The College of Engineering is carrying out large-scale national projects worth more than 70 billion won; based on this, it is nurturing talented people with creative problem-solving and glocal capabilities as the source of national competitiveness in the era of knowledge economy. In addition, through active industry-university cooperation with the region, it is becoming a central axis of research in the Gwangyang Bay area.
In this major, through systematic mechanical engineering education, the goal is to nurture human resources who can contribute to national development and cultivate human resources needed by the local community. In particular, in order to nurture mechanical engineers suitable for the glottalization era, we are guiding students with focus on cultivating perfect major skills and cultivating foreign language skills. In this major, based on education on general mechanical systems, students learn mechanics and 3D computer application design to develop design capabilities for aircraft, rockets, satellites, ships, and automobiles, which are comprehensive hi-tech mechanical systems. According to the national aerospace development plan, aerospace and space centre, science rocket centre, and national flight test centre projects are in progress nearby. The development of domestic aircraft, satellites, and space launch vehicles is in progress nationwide, and it is possible to advance into POSCO, Yeocheon Industrial Complex, and shipbuilding industry. As such, this major has high development potential.
