The College of Engineering is carrying out large-scale national projects worth more than 70 billion won; based on this, it is nurturing talented people with creative problem-solving and glocal capabilities as the source of national competitiveness in the era of knowledge economy. In addition, through active industry-university cooperation with the region, it is becoming a central axis of research in the Gwangyang Bay area.
The Department of Environmental Engineering takes responsibility for the environment in the eastern part of Jeollanam-do (Sunchon, Gwangyang, and Yeosu) and strives to nurture talent. Environmental engineering is an indispensable study in the management and treatment of environmental pollutants generated in a society that is developing day by day. Nowadays, as society becomes more complex and environmental pollution is worsening, people’s environmental awareness is increasing, and the reality is that a company cannot run a business without taking care of the environment. In order to improve the overall quality of the environment, we combine engineering theories with comprehensive knowledge such as natural sciences, humanities, and social sciences, students learn the basic principles of high-salt control, multi-day pollution treatment equipment, waste management, environmental ecology conservation, soil and groundwater pollution treatment, and noise and vibration control and improve their practical skills. Our goal is to educate them to become capable engineers.
