The College of Pharmacy aims to train pharmacists who can play a leading role in improving health and welfare based on the spirit of service and cultivating the professionalism required as a pharmacist in accordance with the educational philosophy of Sunchon National University, which is based on the principle of truth and creation. Clinical practice is being carried out at hospitals such as Seoul Asan Hospital, Seoul Police Hospital, Bundang Seoul National University Hospital, Busan Haeundae Paik Hospital, Yangsan Pusan National University Hospital, Dongtan Hallym University Sacred Heart Hospital, Bucheon Soonchunhyang University Hospital, Chonnam National University Hospital, etc., and local pharmacies in Sunchon, Yeosu, and Gwangyang by Sunchon National University. We have also received a total of 10 billion won in support after signing an agreement with Sunchon City to establish jointly the Natural Medicine and Drug Material Development Research Center for research-oriented education. Moreover, together with nearby hospitals and pharmaceutical companies, we are making continuous efforts such as planning various clinical trials and new drug development.

Department introduction
Based on a long history of over 80 years, Sunchon National University, which is developing into a national university centered on the Gwangyang Bay area, is facing a new history with the establishment of the College of Pharmacy. Sunchon National University College of Pharmacy, which welcomed its first batch of freshmen in 2011 for the purpose of producing “Glocal” pharmacists combining “Global” and “Local,” will grow into the best pharmacy with the active support of all members inside and outside the school, including the general alumni association. Clinical practice is being carried out at the hospitals such as Seoul Asan Hospital, Seoul Police Hospital, Bundang Seoul National University Hospital, Busan Haeundae Paik Hospital, Yangsan Pusan National University Hospital, Dongtan Hallym University Sacred Heart Hospital, Bucheon Soonchunhyang University Hospital, Chonnam National University Hospital, etc., and local pharmacies in Sunchon, Yeosu, and Gwangyang by Sunchon National University. For research-oriented education, after signing an agreement with Sunchon City for the joint establishment of the Natural Medicine Material Development Research Center, a total of KRW 10 billion was supported. Together with nearby hospitals and pharmaceutical companies, we are making continuous efforts such as planning various clinical trials and new drug development.
In addition, we plan to characterize the biopharmaceutical field for the purpose of developing medicines that can treat environmental diseases according to the geographical characteristics, i.e., we are located in the Gwangyang Bay area. An important background to this plan is that we have good conditions for developing new drugs because we can use the abundant natural resources distributed in the Jirisan area and the southern coast. Furthermore, Sunchon National University will make further efforts to nurture pharmacy researchers with international competitiveness and creativity, people related to pharmacy with leadership skills to lead the region and the world by communicating with the local community, and pharmacists with ethical awareness and professional skills as well as pharmaceutical education to meet the needs of future society.
