Department introduction

With the improvement of the national standard of living and growing interest in health and desire for a health-oriented diet, we aim to train competent nutrition teachers and food and nutrition specialists who will play a pivotal role in improving people’s health by actively responding to these social demands. In addition, we intend to play a role in promoting the health of the people by nurturing researchers who research and develop functional foods at food-related companies and research institutes, public officials in the sanitation and health fields, and healthcare experts in various fields.

Our department was supported by the New University for Regional Innovation (NURI) of the Ministry of Education and Human Resources, receiving a lot of support in terms of manpower training through the “Competence Reinforcement Project for Food and Nutrition Majors,” which provides various benefits to people related to food and nutrition, to advance into a wide range of employment fields. In addition, since 2010, we have led changes and innovations in the department, operating field-oriented customized classes and special guidance (Sweat drop SS learning), intensive guidance (S2S learning), and autonomous guidance (acquisition of license*certificate) according to the roadmap and difficulty of each field of employment to “nurture food experts who realize happy and healthy longevity”; we are also conducting volunteer activities (Chaeumneul) to educate local residents on proper eating habits. We encourage early career selection in popular fields and those characterized by particularly high difficulty in employment, while enhancing competitiveness through “research*employment groups” called “Endospore, Pioneer, BioNutri-zip.” At the same time, we are expanding the relationship between graduates, current students, and industries (public institutions) by activating the employment information menu, including our own “Illyeok.com” on the department’s website.
