Department introduction

Physics is the study that explains and predicts natural phenomena based on basic principles and logical thinking. The academic methods established in physics became the basis for the formation of modern science, with the physics knowledge system serving as the basis for modern natural sciences, engineering, medicine, and social sciences. In the Physics Education major, students acquire professional understanding of the physics knowledge system and scientific inquiry methods; at the same time, the goal is to cultivate excellent secondary school teachers with passion for education required in the educational field. In this major, subjects such as mechanics, electromagnetism, quantum mechanics, philosophy of science, and history of science are opened to cultivate major theories and specialised knowledge related to general science and physics major. It is necessary to have broad perspective on natural phenomena and technical engineering through the acquisition of knowledge of these majors in physics. Next, in order to cultivate scientific inquiry ability and attitude, we operate programs in connection with various experimental practices, subject education research groups, and science popularization projects. We also teach subjects such as physics education theory, physics inquiry learning theory, and physics education instruction method so that students can have correct teaching intuition, in order to develop practical qualifications as a teacher and educational research ability; subjects such as physics textbook research and physics learning material development are opened, and exchange activities with incumbent teachers and participation programs in secondary science education are provided. We try to train excellent teachers with professional knowledge, correct attitude, and strong sense of duty by operating the curriculum above. Graduates are given secondary school physics and common science teacher certificates, based on which they can advance to secondary school science and physics teachers. If you take advantage of the double major opportunity, you can advance into teaching jobs in various fields such as mathematics and chemistry. In fields other than teaching, you can think of specialised fields related to your major academic field, where you can enter the central government or local government as a public official in the science field or work as a science journalist in the media or a company. It is also possible to start a business using specialised knowledge.
