In response to the 4th industrial revolution, two or more departments (majors) organically integrate academic fields and provide education to nurture talent with convergence capabilities required by society. Regardless of department, anyone can take a single major or a double major.

Background
- (Central government) The 4th industrial revolution and smart agriculture future technology were selected as the 8 leading projects in the 4 strategic investment fields related to national growth (2018)
- (President) Proposed the creation of a sustainable agro-food industry foundation as one of the top 100 national tasks
- (Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs) Future manpower nurturing policies such as smart agriculture and youth entrepreneurship are reflected in the agricultural, rural and food industry development plan (2018-2022)
- (Committee under the direct control of the President) The Presidential Committee on the 4th Industrial Revolution selected the smart agriculture and fishery industry in 6 areas of intelligent-based industrial innovation
- (Local government) Jeollanam-do selected Blue Agriculture and Fisheries Industry* as a new growth strategic industry in 6 strategic areas of the clean Jeonnam Blue Economy (2019)

(Blue Agriculture and Fisheries Industry) In 2020, “Blue Farm”, the future life industry of Jeollanam-do, is promoted by securing 667.8 billion won including project expenses such as subtropical crop demonstration center and eco-friendly organic farming complex town as the national budget for agriculture in 2020 (Creation of climate change response agricultural research complex, high-tech agricultural mechanization production complex, zero marine waste system, smart aquaculture cluster)
