- AI와 빅데이터로 위험사회를 읽다… 한국외대 행정학과 김성수 교수 초청 강연

국립순천대학교(총장 이병운) 위험사회 컨소시엄 인문사회융합인재양성사업단(이하 위험사회 HUSS 사업단)은 지난 7월 9일, 2025학년도 제2차 전문가 특강 프로그램을 성황리에 개최했다.

이번 특강은 ‘데이터로 읽는 위험사회: AI와 빅데이터를 활용한 정책 설계와 실천’을 주제로, 한국외국어대학교 행정학과 김성수 교수를 초청하여 진행되었다.

김성수 교수는 초연결사회에서 발생하는 다양한 위험 요소와 복합적 사회문제에 대응하기 위해서는 데이터 기반의 정책 결정 역량이 필수적임을 강조했다. 아울러 인공지능(AI)과 빅데이터 기술의 구조적 이해와 실제 활용 사례를 통해, 사회문제 해결을 위한 융합적 사고력의 중요성을 역설하였다.

특강에 참여한 행정학과 양창완 학생은 “데이터와 정책이 이렇게 연결될 수 있다는 점이 인상 깊었고, 앞으로 사회문제를 해결하는 데 어떤 역량이 필요한지 생각하는 계기가 되었다고 말했다. 경영학과 석수련 학생은 “AI나 빅데이터는 막연히 어렵게 느껴졌는데, 실제 정책에 어떻게 적용되는지 사례를 통해 설명해 주셔서 이해가 쉬웠다”며, “앞으로도 이러한 이색 강의가 많아졌으면 좋겠다”는 소감을 전했다.

한편 위험사회 HUSS 사업단은 지난 1차 전문가 특강에서 디지털 기술과 상하수도 혁신의 관계를 조명한 데 이어, 이번 2차 특강에서는 데이터 기반 정책 설계의 중요성을 조명하며 초연결사회에 대응하는 융합형 인재 양성의 방향을 제시했다. 김선명 사업단장은 "앞으로도 위험사회에 능동적으로 대응할 수 있는 인문사회 기반 융합 인재 양성을 위해, 다양한 주제의 전문가 특강과 실천 중심 교육 프로그램을 지속적으로 운영해나갈 계획"이라고 밝혔다.

SCNU HUSS Risk Society Project Hosts Second Expert Lecture of 2025

- Professor Kim Sung-soo (HUFS) discusses AI and Big Data-driven policy in a hyperconnected society

Sunchon National University (President Lee Byung-woon) announced that its HUSS Risk Society Consortium (Humanities and Social Sciences for a Risk Society) successfully held the second expert lecture of the 2025 academic year on July 9.

The lecture, titled “Reading the Risk Society through Data: Policy Design and Practice Using AI and Big Data,” featured Professor Kim Sung-soo from the Department of Public Administration at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies.

Professor Kim emphasized that in a hyperconnected society characterized by complex and interwoven social risks, it is essential to develop data-driven policy-making capabilities. He further highlighted the importance of understanding the structure and applications of artificial intelligence (AI) and big data technologies, noting that convergence-oriented thinking is key to solving today’s multifaceted societal problems.

Yang Chang-wan, a student in the Department of Public Administration, reflected, “It was eye-opening to see how data can be directly connected to policy design. The lecture helped me reflect on the skills needed to address social issues.” Seok Su-ryeon, a student in Business Administration, added, “I used to find AI and big data intimidating, but the real-life policy examples made everything easier to understand. I hope more lectures like this will be offered in the future.”

Following the first expert lecture, which explored the intersection of digital technologies and water infrastructure innovation, this second session further highlighted the role of data-based policy design. The HUSS Risk Society Project continues to pave the way for nurturing convergence-oriented talents who can respond proactively to emerging risks in a hyperconnected world.

Project Director Kim Sun-myung stated, “We will continue to operate expert lectures and practice-based educational programs on various topics to foster convergence-ready professionals with a foundation in the humanities and social sciences who can actively respond to risk society.”
