- 천연물 유래 복합 추출물의 골다공증 개선 효능 연구 추진 … 7개월간 약 1,100만 원 장학금 지원

국립순천대학교(총장 이병운) 약학과 석사과정 임용민 학생이 전남인재평생교육진흥원이 주관하는 2025년도 ‘연구인재 역량강화 프로젝트’에 최종 선정됐다.

전남인재평생교육진흥원의 ‘연구인재 역량강화 프로젝트’는 대학원생들에게 안정적인 연구 기회를 제공하고, 우수 연구자로 성장할 수 있도록 지원하는 사업이다. 임용민 학생(지도교수 손영진)은 ‘천연물 유래 복합 추출물의 골다공증 개선 효능 평가’를 주제로 연구를 수행하고 있으며, 이번 프로젝트 선정으로 약 7개월간 1,100만 원의 장학금을 지원받게 된다.

임용민 학생이 소속된 국립순천대학교 약학대학 생물의약품 실험실은 재조합 단백질 생산을 위한 발현 세포 제작, 고순도 단백질 의약품 개발뿐 아니라, 천연물과 다양한 물질을 활용해 골다공증, 비만, 여성 갱년기 등 대사성 질환에 효과적인 후보물질 발굴 연구를 활발히 진행하고 있다.

임용민 학생의 이번 연구는 천연물 유래 복합 추출물이 골다공증에 미치는 효과를 평가하고, 새로운 항골다공증 치료 후보물질을 발굴하는 것을 목표로 추진되고 있다.

프로젝트에 선정된 임용민 학생은 “연구인재 역량강화 프로젝트라는 좋은 인력양성 프로그램에 선정될 수 있도록 세심하게 지도해 주신 손영진 교수님과 생물의약품 실험실 동료들에게 진심으로 감사드린다”라고 소감을 밝혔다.

Sunchon National University Graduate Student Selected for Jeonnam Research Talent Development Project

Lim Yong-min, a master’s student in the Department of Pharmacy at Sunchon National University (President Lee Byung-woon), has been selected for the 2025 Research Talent Development Project organized by the Jeonnam Talent & Lifelong Education Promotion Institute.

The Research Talent Development Project is a program designed to support graduate students by providing stable research opportunities and fostering their growth into high-potential researchers. Under the guidance of Professor Son Young-jin, Lim is conducting a study titled “Evaluation of the Anti-Osteoporotic Effects of Natural Compound Extracts”. Through this project, he will receive a research scholarship of KRW 11 million over approximately seven months.

Lim is affiliated with the university’s Biopharmaceuticals Laboratory in the College of Pharmacy, which is engaged in cutting-edge research on recombinant protein production, high-purity protein therapeutics, and the discovery of effective natural compound-based treatments for metabolic diseases such as osteoporosis, obesity, and menopause-related conditions.

His current research aims to assess the therapeutic potential of naturally derived compound extracts in improving osteoporosis and to identify new candidate substances for anti-osteoporotic treatment. Upon receiving the award, Lim expressed his gratitude, saying, “I sincerely thank Professor Son Young-jin and my fellow researchers at the Biopharmaceuticals Laboratory for their detailed guidance and support, which enabled me to be selected for such a meaningful research training program.”
