- AI·디지털바이오 융합 산업 최신 동향 공유 및 산학연 협력 논의

- 국내 주요 대학·기업·연구기관 등 230여 명 참여, 공동실험실습관 연구 허브 위상 강화

국립순천대학교(총장 이병운) 공동실험실습관에서는 지난 6월 11일 글로벌 생명과학기업 써머 피셔 사이언티픽과 공동으로‘AI 디지털 바이오테크데이 컨퍼런스’를 개최했다고 밝혔다.

학내 천연물신약연구소 2층 죽호홀에서 열린 이번 행사는 오가노이드사이언스, HITS, AIGEN 사이언스, SML 메디트리 등 국내 주요 연구그룹과 함께 인공지능과 첨단 디지털바이오 산업의 최신 동향을 공유하고, 산·학·연 관계자들이 실질적 협력 방안을 논의하는 자리로 마련됐다.

컨퍼런스에서는 ▲오가노이드 연구(Organoids) ▲바이오테크놀로지 분야의 인공지능 활용(AI in Biotechnology) ▲디지털 전환과 바이오의약산업(Digital Transformation in Biopharma) ▲천연물 기반 치료제 연구(Natural Product Therapeutics)를 주제로, 총 11개 세미나 발표가 진행됐다.

교내·외 각 분야 연구자들이 발표와 토론을 통해 최신 기술과 연구 성과를 심도 있게 공유했으며, 또한 첨단장비전시관 투어와 산학연 네트워킹 세션도 함께 운영돼 공동실험실습관의 최신 인프라를 직접 확인하고, 기업·대학·연구기관 간 협업 기회를 모색하는 자리로 의미를 더했다.

이번 컨퍼런스 행사에는 사전·현장 접수, 온라인 참여 등을 포함해 230여 명이 등록했으며, 동신대, 전남대, 조선대, 제주대, 인제대 등 대학 교수진과 연구원들, 섬섬바이오, 전남화장품산업혁신협회 등 기관 관계자들이 참석해 성황을 이뤘다.

국립순천대학교 공동실험실습관 이민아 관장은 “인공지능과 디지털 기술은 바이오산업의 패러다임을 바꾸고 있다”며, “이번 테크데이가 AI 디지털바이오 산업이 지역을 넘어 글로벌 경쟁력을 갖추고, 미래 바이오산업의 핵심 전략을 논의하는 뜻깊은 자리로 자리매김하기를 기대한다”고 말했다.

한편, 국립순천대 공동실험실습관은 올해 개관 25주년을 맞아 국가첨단 산업을 선도하는 연구지원기관으로서 연구와 산업 간 연결을 강화하고, 지역과 국가의 바이오산업 발전을 견인하는 연구 허브로 지속 성장해 나갈 계획이다.

Sunchon National University Hosts AI Digital Biotech Day Conference in Partnership with Thermo Fisher Scientific

Sunchon National University (President Lee Byung-woon) announced that its Central Research Facilities hosted the AI Digital Biotech Day Conference on June 11, in collaboration with global life science company Thermo Fisher Scientific. The event was held at Jukho Hall in the university’s Natural Product Drug Research Institute and brought together key players in the AI and digital biotechnology sectors.

The conference featured participation from prominent Korean research groups such as Organoid Science, HITS, AIGEN Science, and SML Meditree. It served as a platform for academic, industry, and research stakeholders to share the latest trends and discuss practical collaboration strategies in AI-powered biotech innovation.

A total of 11 seminar presentations were delivered under major themes including organoid research, the application of AI in biotechnology, digital transformation in biopharmaceuticals, and natural product-based therapeutics. The sessions provided in-depth insights into emerging technologies and ongoing research across multiple domains.

Participants, including faculty and researchers from universities such as Dongshin University, Chonnam National University, Chosun University, Jeju National University, and Inje University, engaged in presentations and discussions. The conference also featured a guided tour of the university’s advanced equipment exhibition hall and dedicated time for industry-academic networking, offering attendees a firsthand look at the infrastructure of the Central Research Facilities and facilitating new partnership opportunities.

With more than 230 registered attendees through online and on-site participation, the conference was a significant success. Director Mina Lee of the Central Research Facilities remarked, “AI and digital technologies are transforming the paradigm of the bioindustry. We hope this Tech Day becomes a milestone event that strengthens the global competitiveness of Korea’s digital biotech sector, starting from the local level.”

Marking its 25th anniversary this year, Sunchon National University’s Central Research Facilities aims to grow as a national hub for advanced research support, linking academia with industry and driving the development of both regional and national bioindustries.
