- 교수·학생이 체감할 수 있는 학과 자율특화로 경쟁력 강화 … 학과별 최대 1억 원 지원

국립순천대학교(총장 이병운)는 학과 단위의 자율특화 역량을 키우고 지속 가능한 혁신 생태계를 조성하기 위해 「교육혁신 선도학과 지원사업」을 본격 추진한다. 올해는 7개 학과(전공)를 선도학과로 선정하고, 오는 2026년 2월까지 다양한 혁신 활동을 지원한다.

국립대학육성사업의 일환으로 추진되는 이번 사업은 학과 및 학문분야 연계 단위가 가진 고유한 여건과 특성을 반영하여, 교수와 학생이 실질적으로 체감할 수 있는 교육혁신을 촉진하기 위해 기획되었다.

선도학과는 학과 특성에 맞춰 ▲학과 운영 체계 혁신을 통한 자생력 강화 ▲교육과정 혁신 및 혁신 교수법 운영 ▲다전공 활성화(융합·연계 전공, 나노·마이크로 디그리 등) ▲학부 및 대학원 학생 지원 고도화 등 주요 과제를 기반으로 자율특화에 나서게 된다.

올해 선정된 7개 학과(전공)는 ▲동물자원과학전공 ▲의생명과학전공 ▲글로벌중국학전공 ▲화학공학전공 ▲식품영양학과 ▲경영학전공·회계학전공 ▲콘텐츠메니지먼트융합전공 등이다.

전공별 사업계획서를 기반으로 사업선정위원회의 평가를 거쳐 최소 5천만 원에서 최대 1억 원까지 차등 지원하며, 성과지표 달성 여부, 월별 모니터링, 사업 종료 후 자체평가 등을 체계적으로 실시하고, 평가 결과에 따라 차년도 사업 지속 여부를 결정할 예정이다.

이병운 총장은 “이번 사업은 학과 차원의 자율적이고 창의적인 혁신을 촉진하는 실질적인 지원책”이라며, “지속 가능한 학과 중심 혁신 생태계를 조성해 대학 경쟁력을 강화하겠다”고 말했다. 한편, 국립순천대는 올해를 시작으로 매년 교육혁신 선도학과 지원사업에 참여할 신규학과(전공)를 선정할 계획이다.

SCNU Launches “Leading Departments for Educational Innovation” Initiative to Foster Specialized Excellence and Sustainable Innovation Ecosystems

Sunchon National University (President Lee Byung-woon) has launched its Leading Departments for Educational Innovation initiative to strengthen the specialized capabilities of academic departments and foster a sustainable innovation ecosystem. This year, seven departments have been selected as leading departments, and the university will support a range of innovation activities through February 2026.

Implemented as part of the National University Development Project, the initiative is designed to promote educational innovation that reflects the unique conditions and characteristics of each department and academic unit, enabling faculty and students to experience meaningful and practical improvements in teaching and learning.

Each leading department will pursue tailored innovation activities aligned with its specific needs and strengths, focusing on key areas such as: ▲ Strengthening self-sustainability through operational system innovation ▲ Innovating curricula and adopting advanced teaching methodologies ▲ Promoting multi-major programs (including interdisciplinary, joint majors, nano and micro degrees) ▲ Enhancing support for undergraduate and graduate students.

The seven departments selected for this year’s program are: ▲ Department of Animal Science ▲ Department of Biomedical Science ▲ Global Chinese Studies ▲ Department of Chemical Engineering ▲ Department of Food and Nutrition ▲ Department of Business Administration · Accounting ▲ Convergence Major in Content Management.

Selected departments will receive differentiated funding ranging from KRW 50 million to KRW 100 million, based on project proposals evaluated by a selection committee. In addition, the university will systematically monitor progress through performance indicators, monthly evaluations, and a comprehensive post-project assessment, which will inform decisions on whether to continue support in subsequent years. 

President Lee Byung-woon stated, “This initiative provides practical support to encourage autonomous and creative innovation at the departmental level,” adding, “We aim to build a sustainable, department-centered innovation ecosystem that will enhance the university’s overall competitiveness.” Moving forward, Sunchon National University plans to select new departments each year to participate in the Leading Departments for Educational Innovation initiative and continue expanding the program.
