국립순천대학교(총장 이병운)는 6월 5일 오전 11시, 대학 본부 중회의실에서 민군협력진흥원(원장 김주현)과 함께 우주·항공 산업 발전과 민·군 기술 협력 활성화를 위한 업무협약(MOU)을 체결했다.

이번 협약은 우주·항공 특화 분야의 산학연 협력 기반을 강화하고, 민군 기술협력 사업 추진, 인적 교류 확대, 공동 학술행사 개최 등 다방면에서 협력 체계를 구축하고자 마련되었다.

협약식에는 국립순천대학교 이병운 총장을 비롯해 문승태 대외협력부총장, 이희남 우주항공고흥캠퍼스 단장이 참석했으며, 민군협력진흥원에서는 김주현 원장, 정명원 민군정책기획팀장, 오장훈 전략기술사업팀장, 권기범 책임연구원이 함께했다.

양 기관은 협약을 통해 △양 기관 간 교류와 발전을 위한 연계체계 구축 △우주·항공 산업 분야 협력 과제 공동 발굴 △민·군 기술협력사업 관련 자문과 인적 교류 △기타 상호 합의한 분야에 대한 실질적 협력 등을 함께 추진해 나갈 계획이다.

김주현 민군협력진흥원장은 인사말에서 “국립순천대 우주항공 고흥캠퍼스의 전문성과 지역적 강점을 바탕으로, 미래 우주항공 산업을 함께 선도해 나가길 기대한다”고 했으며, 이병운 총장은 “국립순천대학교는 우주항공·첨단소재 분야를 미래 성장동력으로 삼고, 관련 분야의 전문 인재 양성과 기술 개발에 꾸준히 힘쓰고 있다”라며, “민군협력진흥원과 함께 국가 전략산업에 기여할 수 있는 협력 모델을 만들어 가겠다”고 밝혔다.

한편, 국립순천대는 글로컬대학30 사업의 일환으로 우주항공·첨단소재 특화분야를 중심으로 한 첨단 분야의 교육 및 연구 역량을 강화하고 있으며, 지역산업과 연계한 실무 중심의 교육환경 조성에도 박차를 가하고 있다.

Sunchon National University Signs MOU with the Agency for Defense Development to Boost Aerospace Industry and Civil-Military Technology Cooperation

Sunchon National University (President Lee Byung-woon) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Agency for Defense Development (Director Kim Joo-hyun) on June 5 at 11:00 a.m. in the university’s main conference room. The agreement aims to promote the development of the aerospace industry and strengthen civil-military technology cooperation.

This partnership was established to build a robust foundation for collaboration among industry, academia, and research institutes in the specialized field of aerospace. It also seeks to promote joint projects in civil-military technology, expand personnel exchanges, and organize academic events, thereby creating a broad and practical cooperation framework.

The signing ceremony was attended by President Lee Byung-woon, Vice President for External Affairs Moon Seung-tae, and Aerospace Goheung Campus Director Lee Hee-nam from Sunchon National University. From the Agency for Defense Development, Director Kim Joo-hyun, Civil-Military Policy Planning Team Leader Jung Myung-won, Strategic Technology Project Team Leader Oh Jang-hoon, and Senior Researcher Kwon Ki-beom were present.

Under the agreement, the two institutions will work together to establish a cooperative system for mutual growth, jointly identify projects in the aerospace sector, offer consulting and personnel exchange for civil-military initiatives, and pursue collaboration in other mutually agreed areas.

Director Kim Joo-hyun expressed high expectations, stating, “We hope to lead the future aerospace industry together by leveraging the expertise and regional strengths of the Aerospace Goheung Campus.” President Lee Byung-woon added, “Sunchon National University is committed to cultivating talent and developing technologies in aerospace and advanced materials as part of our long-term growth strategy. Through this partnership with the Agency for Defense Development, we aim to contribute meaningfully to national strategic industries.”

As part of the Glocal University 30 initiative, Sunchon National University is actively enhancing its education and research capabilities in high-tech fields such as aerospace and advanced materials, while accelerating the establishment of a practice-based educational environment aligned with regional industries.
