- 전주한옥마을 전통문화 체험으로 한국 학생과 외국인 유학생 간 상호문화 교류 확대

국립순천대학교(총장 이병운)는 지난 5월 30일(금), 외국인 유학생과 한국 학생이 함께 한국 전통문화를 체험하고 교류하는 ‘글로벌캠프’를 성공적으로 마쳤다고 밝혔다.

이번 캠프는 국립대학육성사업의 일환으로 진행되었으며, 한국 학생을 비롯해 몽골, 미얀마, 베트남, 우즈베키스탄, 중국 등 17개국에서 온 약 140여 명의 학생들이 참여했다. 참가 학생들은 서로의 문화를 이해하고, 협력과 소통의 가치를 배우는 뜻깊은 시간을 가졌다.

학생들은 전주한옥마을을 방문해 ▲한복 체험 ▲전통 예절 교육 ▲다양한 전통문화 활동 등을 통해 한국 문화의 진수를 직접 경험했다. 한복을 입고 고즈넉한 한옥마을을 거닐며 조선시대의 생활 문화를 간접적으로 체험했고, 전통 예절 교육을 통해 한국인의 가치관과 문화를 깊이 있게 이해하는 시간을 가졌다.

이번 캠프에 참가한 카메룬 출신의 바빌라 학생은 “한옥을 처음 보게 되어 신기했고, 전통 한복을 입어보니 너무 멋져서 벗고 싶지 않을 정도로 좋았다. 기회가 된다면 꼭 다시 전주에 오고 싶다”고 소감을 밝혔다.

서강석 국제교류교육본부장은 “이번 글로벌캠프는 외국인 유학생들이 한국의 전통문화를 직접 체험하고, 한국 학생들과 자연스럽게 교류하면서 서로에 대한 이해와 존중을 배우는 소중한 기회였다”며, “앞으로도 다양한 국제교류 프로그램을 통해 문화 교류를 확대하고, 글로벌 시대에 걸맞은 인재 양성에 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다.

한편, 국립순천대학교는 외국인 유학생들이 지역 사회에 안정적으로 정착할 수 있도록 정주 지원을 강화하고, 한국 학생들과의 지속적인 교류를 통해 상호 문화 이해를 증진하며, 글로벌 역량을 갖춘 인재로 성장할 수 있도록 다양한 문화체험 및 국제교류 프로그램을 지속적으로 확대해 나갈 계획이다.

Sunchon National University Successfully Concludes ‘Global Camp’ for International and Korean Students

Sunchon National University (President Lee Byung-woon) announced that it successfully held the “Global Camp” on Friday, May 30, where international and Korean students came together to experience and share Korean traditional culture.

The camp was organized as part of the National University Development Project. Approximately 140 students from 17 countries, including Mongolia, Myanmar, Vietnam, Uzbekistan, China, and Korea, participated. The event provided students with a meaningful opportunity to understand each other’s cultures while learning the importance of communication and cooperation.

Participants visited Jeonju Hanok Village, where they engaged in traditional Korean cultural experiences such as ▲wearing hanbok (traditional Korean attire), ▲learning traditional etiquette, and ▲various hands-on cultural activities. Dressed in hanbok, students walked through the tranquil hanok village, gaining an indirect yet vivid sense of life during the Joseon Dynasty. Through the etiquette program, they also gained deeper insight into Korean values and cultural norms.

Babila, a student from Cameroon who took part in the camp, shared, “It was my first time seeing a hanok, which was amazing, and wearing hanbok felt so wonderful I didn’t want to take it off. I would love to visit Jeonju again if I get the chance.”

Seo Gang-seok, Director of the Office of International Affairs, stated, “This Global Camp was a valuable opportunity for international students to experience Korean traditional culture firsthand and to naturally interact with Korean students, fostering mutual understanding and respect. We will continue to expand cultural exchange opportunities and dedicate ourselves to nurturing global talents equipped for the international era.”

Meanwhile, Sunchon National University plans to further enhance local settlement support for international students, promote ongoing exchange with Korean peers, and expand cultural and international exchange programs to help students grow into globally competent individuals.
