- ‘언어를 읽는 AI, 사회를 바꾸는 데이터’ 주제로 AI 시대 대응 학습 방향 모색

국립순천대학교(총장 이병운)는 지난 6월 4일 천연물신약관 죽호홀에서 ‘언어를 읽는 AI, 사회를 바꾸는 데이터’를 주제로 2025년 제1회 글로벌 지역혁신 전문가특강을 개최했다고 밝혔다. 이번 특강은 인공지능(AI)의 최신 기술 동향과 산업 구조의 변화를 조망하고, 대학이 AI 대전환 시대에 어떻게 대응 전략을 수립할 수 있을지 학습 방향을 제시하고자 마련됐다.

강연은 래블업 주식회사 연구원 송영숙 박사가 맡았다. 송영숙 박사는 경희대학교 국어학을 전공하고 「인공지능의 일상 대화 추론 능력 향상을 위한 자연어 생성 연구 」, 「사람과 AI 모델 간의 화행 주석 개선 방향 연구」, 「인공지능 기계 번역과 상호참조해결 말뭉치를 활용한 한국어와 중국어 한정성 비교 연구」 등의 논문을 발표하며, 전산 언어학, 언어유형론, 상식추론, 음성학 분야에서 활발한 연구 활동을 이어가고 있는 AI 전문가이다.

송영숙 박사는 특강에서 젠슨 황 엔비디아 CEO의 ‘코딩보다 전문 지식이 중요하다’라는 발언을 인용하며, “AI 분야의 확장과 함께 다양한 전공의 전문 인력이 더욱 중요해지고 있다”고 강조했다. 특히 다양한 전공의 대학생들이 자신의 학문적 기반을 바탕으로 지속적인 AI 관련 학습과 교류, 협력을 통해 단계적으로 AI 분야에 진입할 수 있음을 역설했다.

국립순천대학교 백혜선 글로벌지역혁신전략연구센터장은 “지역산업 및 지역사회 밀착 교육을 통해 지역사회 문제를 성찰하고 해결할 수 있는 역량을 갖춘 인재 양성이 가능하다”라며, “센터는 앞으로도 학내 구성원과 지역민의 글로컬 역량을 강화하고,  지·산·학 협력 거점으로서 다양한 분야의 전문가 특강을 지속해서 마련할 예정”이라고 전했다.

Sunchon National University Hosts 2025 1st Global Regional Innovation Expert Lecture on AI and Society

Sunchon National University (President Lee Byung-woon) held the first Global Regional Innovation Expert Lecture of 2025 on June 4 at Jukho Hall in the Natural Product-Based Drug Discovery Building, under the theme “AI that Understands Language, Data that Transforms Society.” The lecture was designed to explore the latest trends in artificial intelligence (AI) and industrial transformation, and to guide universities in developing strategic responses in the era of AI-driven change.

The lecture was delivered by Dr. Song Young-sook, a researcher at RableUp Inc. Dr. Song majored in Korean linguistics at Kyung Hee University and has published research papers such as “A Study on Natural Language Generation for Improving AI’s Conversational Inference Ability,” “A Study on Improving Speech Act Annotation Between Human and AI Models,” and “A Comparative Study on Definiteness in Korean and Chinese Using Machine Translation and Coreference Resolution Corpora.” She is an expert in AI, actively engaged in computational linguistics, linguistic typology, commonsense reasoning, and phonetics.

In her talk, Dr. Song cited NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang’s recent remark that “domain expertise is more important than coding,” emphasizing that as the AI field expands, professionals from diverse academic backgrounds are becoming increasingly essential. She particularly stressed that students from a wide range of disciplines can enter the AI field gradually by leveraging their academic foundations and engaging in continuous learning, collaboration, and exchange.

Baek Hye-seon, Director of the Global Regional Innovation Strategy Research Center at Sunchon National University, stated, “Education closely linked with local industries and communities can foster talents capable of reflecting on and solving real-world problems.” She added, “The center will continue to strengthen global-local (glocal) competencies among university members and local residents, and will host a series of expert lectures across diverse fields as a hub for knowledge-industry-academia collaboration.”
