- 학사·생활 지원 안내와 현장 의견 나누며, 소통의 시간 가져

국립순천대학교(총장 이병운) 장애학생지원센터가 지난 6월 4일, 본부 대회의실에서 「2025학년도 1학기 장애학생 및 보호자 간담회」를 개최했다고 밝혔다.

이번 간담회는 장애 학생의 학습 환경과 생활 전반에 대한 지원 방안을 함께 논의하고, 의견을 직접 듣기 위해 마련되었다. 이병운 총장을 비롯해 대학 주요 보직자와 장애 학생 및 보호자 총 20여 명이 참석한 가운데, 대학의 주요 지원 프로그램을 안내하고 이에 대한 다양한 제안을 경청했다.

특히 간담회에서는 심리·진로·인권 상담을 비롯해, 장애인 일자리 정보 제공, 카카오톡 채널 확대, 학사 지원, 장애학생 쉼터 운영 등 센터를 중심으로 대학 내 여러 부서가 협력해 추진 중인 다양한 지원 프로그램이 소개되었다.

이에 대해 참석자들의 다양한 제언이 오갔다. 한 보호자는 “잘 갖춰진 지원 프로그램을 적극 활용할 수 있도록, 입학 전인 2월경에 학교생활과 신청법 전반에 대해 미리 안내해 준다면 적응에 훨씬 도움이 될 것 같다”라는 의견을 전하기도 했다.

이병운 총장은 “오늘 말씀해 주신 의견을 바탕으로 학사와 장학 서비스가 더욱 쉽게 연결되는 원스톱 체계를 구축하겠다”라며, “우리 대학을 선택한 학생들이 불편 없이 학습과 생활에 집중할 수 있도록 교육 환경을 지속해서 개선해 나가겠다”라고 약속했다.

한편, 국립순천대학교는 장애 학생의 자율성과 학습권 보장하기 위해 ▲장학금 지원 ▲학교생활 도우미 운영 ▲수업 및 과제 활동 지원 ▲학습 기자재 및 보조 기기 지원 ▲기숙사 제공 등 맞춤형 지원을 꾸준하게 강화하고 있다.

SCNU Hosts Meeting with Students with Disabilities and Their Guardians to Strengthen Support System

Sunchon National University (President Lee Byung-woon) announced that its Center for Students with Disabilities held the “2025 Spring Semester Meeting for Students with Disabilities and Their Guardians” on June 4 at the university’s main conference room.

The meeting was organized to gather feedback and discuss ways to improve support for students with disabilities in both their academic and daily lives. Attendees included President Lee, key university administrators, and over 20 students and guardians. The university introduced its major support programs and actively listened to various suggestions.

Key initiatives introduced during the meeting included psychological, career, and human rights counseling; employment information services; expansion of the university’s KakaoTalk support channel; academic assistance; and operation of a student lounge. These programs are jointly operated by the Center in collaboration with other university departments.

Participants shared a range of suggestions. One guardian stated, “It would be helpful to receive information about campus life and support application procedures in advance?around February?so that students can better adapt to university life from the start.”

President Lee responded, “Based on your suggestions today, we will work toward building a one-stop service system that better integrates academic and scholarship support. We will continue improving the learning environment to ensure that all students at SCNU can study and live without inconvenience.”

Sunchon National University is steadily expanding its tailored support for students with disabilities to ensure their autonomy and learning rights. This includes full scholarships, academic and campus life assistants, support for coursework and assignments, provision of learning materials and assistive devices, and private dormitory rooms.
