국립순천대학교(총장 이병운)는 가정의 달을 맞아 지역사회와의 유대를 강화하고, 대학 구성원의 화합과 소통을 확대하기 위해 5월 31일 광양축구전용구장에서 전남드래곤즈와 함께 ‘네이밍데이’ 행사를 개최했다고 밝혔다.

이번 행사는 개교 90주년을 기념해 국립순천대와 지역 대표 프로구단이 공동으로 마련한 뜻깊은 교류 프로그램으로, 교직원 가족과 재학생들이 주인공으로 참여해 경기장 분위기를 뜨겁게 달궜다.

이날 시축에는 이병운 총장을 비롯해 성수용 총학생회장, 탁해윤(전국체전 양궁 은메달리스트), 김수현(전북일보 신춘문예 당선자), 무흘리사(박사과정 유학생) 등 재학생 대표 4인이 나서며 행사에 의미를 더했다.

또한 국립순천대와 인연이 깊은 지역 아동들이 ‘에스코트 키즈’로 참여해 선수들과 함께 입장하며 감동을 선사했고, 관중석에서는 교직원 가족과 학생들이 열정적인 응원으로 분위기를 고조시켰다. 하프타임에는 국립순천대학교 응원단 ‘늘봄’이 특별 공연을 펼쳐 현장 분위기를 뜨겁게 달궜다.

이날 전남드래곤즈는 화성FC와의 경기에서 3:2 승리를 거두며, 홈팬들에게 짜릿한 승리를 선사했다. 전남드래곤즈 구단 관계자는 “이번 네이밍데이는 지역 대학과 프로구단이 함께 만들어가는 상생 모델”이라며, “교육기관과 스포츠가 협력해 지역 공동체가 하나되는 계기가 되기를 바란다”고 밝혔다.

이병운 총장은 “교직원 가족과 학생들이 함께 특별한 추억을 만들었기를 바란다”며, “이번 행사를 계기로 대학과 지역, 그리고 프로스포츠 간의 교류가 더욱 활발해지기를 기대한다”고 전했다. 한편, 국립순천대학교는 올해 개교 90주년을 맞아 지역사회와 함께하는 다양한 기념사업과 특화 프로그램을 연중 추진하고 있다.

Sunchon National University Hosts ‘Naming Day’ with Jeonnam Dragons FC to Mark 90th Anniversary

Sunchon National University (President Byung-Woon Lee) announced that it held a special “Naming Day” event on May 31 at Gwangyang Football Stadium in celebration of Family Month. The event was organized in collaboration with Jeonnam Dragons FC to strengthen ties with the local community and promote unity among university members.

Commemorating the university’s 90th anniversary, the event served as a meaningful exchange program between the university and the local professional football club. Faculty, staff, students, and their families took center stage, bringing vibrant energy to the stadium.

President Byung-Woon Lee, Student Council President Sooyong Seong, and four student representatives -Hae-yoon Tak (National Sports Festival silver medalist in archery), Su-hyun Kim (winner of the Jeonbuk Ilbo Literary Contest), and Muhlisa (Ph.D. international student)- opened the match with a ceremonial kickoff, adding significance to the event.

Children from the local community with close ties to the university participated as “escort kids,” entering the field with the players and creating a memorable pre-game moment. In the stands, university faculty, staff, and students filled the stadium with enthusiastic cheers. During halftime, the university’s cheerleading team “Neulbom” delivered a special performance, further energizing the crowd. 

Jeonnam Dragons secured a thrilling 3-2 victory against Hwaseong FC, delighting home fans and adding to the festive atmosphere. A representative from Jeonnam Dragons stated, “This Naming Day event exemplifies a model of collaboration between regional universities and professional sports teams. We hope it fosters stronger bonds within the local community through partnerships in education and sports.”

President Lee added, “I hope this event offered our faculty, staff, and students a memorable experience. We look forward to more active exchanges between the university, the community, and professional sports organizations in the future.” Sunchon National University continues to carry out a wide range of commemorative events and specialized programs throughout the year in celebration of its 90th anniversary.
