- 외국인·한국인 학생, 팀 꾸려 순천 문화유산 탐방·전통문화 체험 나서 … 글로컬 교류 확대로 학생 역량 강화 톡톡

국립순천대학교(총장 이병운) 국제교류교육본부는 최근 순천시 일원에서 외국인 유학생과 한국인 재학생을 대상으로 ‘2025-2학기 글로벌 캠프 문화체험 버디프로그램’을 성공적으로 운영했다고 밝혔다.

이번 프로그램은 서로 다른 문화적 배경을 가진 학생들이 지역 탐방과 체험 활동 속에서 상호 교류하며 글로벌 역량을 키울 수 있도록 11월 7일과 14일 양일에 걸쳐 운영되었다. 올해는 몽골, 중국, 베트남, 일본, 우즈베키스탄 등 다양한 국적의 학생들이 참여해 다문화 교류의 폭이 한층 넓어졌다.

학생들은 순천의 대표 문화유산인 선암사와 낙안읍성, 지역 농촌마을인 꽃마차마을을 방문하며 한국 생활문화와 지역 고유의 역사·문화를 자연스럽게 이해하는 시간을 가졌다. 특히 한복 착용, 곶감·양갱 만들기 등 평소 접하기 어려운 전통문화 체험은 유학생뿐 아니라 한국 학생들에게도 큰 호응을 얻었다.

참여 학생들은 “지역 곳곳에서 한국의 언어와 문화의 매력을 몸으로 느낄 수 있었다”, “우리 지역과 전통문화에 대한 자부심이 생겼다”, “유학생들이 한국문화를 이해하고 교류할 수 있는 기회가 더 확대되길 바란다” 등 높은 만족감을 드러냈다. 올해 버디 프로그램에는 총 182명의 학생이 팀을 이루어 참여했으며, 전체 만족도는 95%로 매우 높게 나타났다.

국립순천대 서강석 국제교류교육본부장은 “한국인·외국인 학생의 팀 기반 활동에서 생겨난 유대감이 캠퍼스 곳곳으로 확산되며 자연스럽게 글로벌 캠퍼스로 나아가는 기반이 되고 있다”라며 “앞으로도 캠퍼스 국제화와 지역 교류를 확장하는 다양한 프로그램을 지속해 나가겠다”고 밝혔다.

한편, 국립순천대 국제교류교육본부는 글로벌캠프 문화 체험 사진·영상 우수 작품전을 통해 활동 성과를 공유하는 후속 프로그램도 추진할 계획이다.

SCNU Receives Positive Feedback for the “2025 Global Camp Cultural Experience Buddy Program”

Sunchon National University (SCNU) announced that its Office of International Affairs successfully operated the “2025 Second-Semester Global Camp Cultural Experience Buddy Program” in Suncheon City, bringing together international students and Korean students for cultural exchange activities.

The program was held on November 7 and 14 and was designed to strengthen global competencies through team-based interaction and hands-on local experiences. Students from Mongolia, China, Vietnam, Japan, and Uzbekistan participated, further broadening the scope of multicultural exchange on campus.

Participants visited key cultural heritage sites in Suncheon, including Seonamsa Temple, Naganeupseong Folk Village, and a local rural village. Through these visits, students gained a natural understanding of Korean daily life, regional history, and traditional culture. Activities such as wearing hanbok and making traditional snacks were especially well received by both international and Korean students.

Students shared that they were able to experience the charm of the Korean language and culture firsthand, developed a greater sense of pride in local traditions, and hoped for more opportunities for cultural exchange in the future. A total of 182 students participated in the program, which recorded an overall satisfaction rate of 95 percent.

Seo Kang-seok, Director of the Office of International Affairs at SCNU, said that the bonds formed through team-based activities between Korean and international students are spreading across campus and helping build a naturally global campus environment. He added that the university will continue to expand programs that promote campus internationalization and regional exchange.

Meanwhile, SCNU plans to further share the outcomes of the program through a follow-up exhibition featuring outstanding photos and videos from the Global Camp cultural experience.
