- 몰입형 ‘인권의 방’부터 체험 부스·영화 상영까지, ‘일상 속 인권을 다시 생각하는 시간'

국립순천대학교(총장 이병운)는 국립대학육성사업의 일환으로 지난 11월 6일(목) 대학 정문 열린광장에서 ‘함께하는 인권, 함께하는 미래’를 주제로 「2025 인권박람회」를 개최했다고 밝혔다.

이번 행사는 인권의 가치와 의미를 되새기고, 지역사회와 함께 인권 친화적 문화를 확산하기 위해 마련되었다. 박람회는 ▲인권 선언문 낭독 및 존중의 꽃 전달 등 개회 퍼포먼스 ▲교내외 유관 기관 체험 부스 운영(11개) ▲몰입형 인권 체험존 ‘인권의 방’ ▲어쿠스틱 밴드 공연 ▲영화 <아이 캔 스피크> 상영 등 낮부터 밤까지 이어지는 다양한 프로그램으로 구성되었다.

특히 이번 박람회의 하이라이트로 꼽힌 ‘인권의 방’은 인권침해가 악의적 의도가 아닌 ‘사유의 부재’에서 비롯될 수 있다는 문제의식을 담아내 눈길을 끌었다. 참여자는 어둠 속에서 타인의 고통을 외면하는 ‘평범한 무심함’을 시각·청각적으로 체험하고, 거울 앞에서 일상 속 자신을 성찰하는 시간을 가졌다. 이를 통해 ‘함께하는 인권’의 의미를 스스로 깨닫도록 유도하는 참여형 전시로 큰 공감을 얻었다.

이날 체험 부스 운영에는 순천경찰서, 순천 YMCA, 전남성폭력상담소, 전남동부지역사회연구소, 직원연합회, 보건진료소, 대학일자리플러스센터, 인권센터 등 교내외 기관이 참여해 노동·환경·다문화·성인지 감수성·딥페이크 예방 등 인권과 관련된 다양한 주제를 다루었다. 현장에는 시민과 학생들이 자연스럽게 참여하고 소통할 수 있도록 스탬프 투어와 커피차 이벤트도 함께 준비되어 축제의 장을 완성했다. 저녁 시간에는 국립순천대 학생 어쿠스틱 밴드 공연과 영화 <아이 캔 스피크> 상영이 이어져, 인권에 대한 메시지를 되새겼다.

국립순천대 정동보 인권센터장은 “이번 인권박람회를 계기로 서로를 존엄한 존재로 바라보고 다름을 인정하는 문화가 대학과 지역사회 전반으로 확산되기를 바란다”고 말했다. 한편, 국립순천대 인권센터는 앞으로도 학생과 시민이 함께 참여하고 실천할 수 있는 참여형 인권문화 프로그램을 지속 운영하며, 지역사회와의 협력을 강화해 나갈 계획이다.

SCNU Hosts “2025 Human Rights Fair” to Promote a Rights-Respecting Campus Culture

- Immersive Human Rights Experience Zone, Themed Booths, and Film Screening Engage Students and Local Community

Sunchon National University (President Lee Byung-woon) announced that it held the “2025 Human Rights Fair” on November 6 at the Open Plaza near the university’s main gate, as part of the National University Development Program.

Held under the theme “Human Rights Together, Future Together,” the event aimed to reaffirm the value of human rights and foster a rights-respecting culture on campus and within the local community. The fair featured a variety of programs throughout the day, including an opening human rights declaration performance, 11 experiential booths operated by campus and local organizations, an immersive exhibition titled “Human Rights Room,” a live acoustic band performance, and a screening of the film I Can Speak.

The highlight of the fair, Human Rights Room, was designed to convey that human rights violations often arise not only from explicit harm but also from a lack of awareness and reflection. Participants entered a dark, enclosed space where they experienced the “ordinary indifference” that ignores others’ suffering through visual and auditory stimuli. The experience concluded with a mirrored reflection point, encouraging participants to recognize the possibility of having been bystanders in everyday situations. The installation invited personal reflection and resonated deeply with visitors.

The experiential booths were hosted in collaboration with local and campus partners, including Suncheon Police Station, Suncheon YMCA, Jeonnam Sexual Violence Counseling Center, Jeonnam Eastern Region Community Studies Institute, the University Staff Association, the University Health Service, the University Job Plus Center, and the Human Rights Center. Booth topics included labor rights, environmental rights, multicultural awareness, gender sensitivity, and prevention of deepfake harm.

Hands-on activities, a stamp tour, and a community coffee truck helped create a welcoming and festive atmosphere. In the evening, the SNU student acoustic band performed, followed by the film screening of I Can Speak, providing participants with an opportunity to revisit the core message of human dignity through art and storytelling.

Professor Jeong Dong-bo, Director of the SNU Human Rights Center, stated, “We hope that this Human Rights Fair will serve as a catalyst for spreading a culture of mutual respect and understanding across both the campus and the broader community.”

Sunchon National University plans to continue developing participatory human rights programs in cooperation with local organizations to build an inclusive and rights-respecting community culture.
