- 4개 대학 15개 팀 참가… SW 교육 활성화를 위한 업무협약도 체결

국립순천대학교(총장 이병운) SW중심대학사업단은 경남대학교, 국립군산대학교, 조선대학교 SW사업단과 공동으로 지난 8월 20일부터 22일까지 2박 3일간 ‘제2회 영·호남 대학생 SW 학술교류대회’를 개최했다.

이번 대회는 지난해 국립순천대와 안동대가 공동 주최한 제1회 대회를 기반으로, 올해는 4개 대학으로 확대해 열렸다. 영·호남 지역 간 SW 중심대학의 학술 교류와 협력 강화를 목적으로 마련된 이번 대회에서 학생들은 SW 관련 창의적 사고 역량과 프로그래밍 능력을 강화하고, 다양한 프로젝트 발표와 평가를 통해 실전 경험을 쌓는 시간을 가졌다.

총 15개 팀, 51명이 참가한 이번 대회는 ▲포스터 발표 ▲연구성과 구두 발표 ▲리버스 엔지니어링 평가 ▲대학 간 친교의 시간 ▲시상식 등 다채로운 프로그램으로 진행됐다. 참여 주제는 AI·컴퓨터비전, 빅데이터 분석, IoT/임베디드 시스템, 웹·앱 개발 등 다양한 IT 분야를 아우렀다.

대상은 ‘지역 축제 활성화를 위한 전남 축제 정보 어플리케이션’을 발표한 국립순천대학교 컴퓨터공학과 ‘또옴’팀은 윤한식(팀장, 4년), 김성표(4년), 김채원(4년), 장서윤(2년)으로 구성되어 이번 대회에서 수상의 영예를 안았다. 이 외에도 각 대학별 최우수상 1팀, 리버스 엔지니어링 평가상 1팀이 선정됐다.

대상을 수상한 윤한식 학생은 “타 대학의 창의적인 프로젝트를 접하며 새로운 아이디어를 얻을 수 있었고, 리버스 엔지니어링 과정을 통해 깊이 있는 학술 교류를 경험했다”며 “게임, 블록체인, 딥러닝 등 다양한 분야에 관심 있는 학생들에게 이 대회를 적극 추천하고 싶다”고 소감을 밝혔다.

대회 기간 중인 8월 20일에는 4개 대학 SW중심대학사업단 단장들이 참석한 가운데 ‘SW 교육협력 활성화를 위한 업무협약(MOU)’도 체결됐다. 협약에는 ▲교육 콘텐츠 공동 개발 및 공유 ▲학점 교류 ▲공동 학술대회 및 경진대회 개최 등이 포함됐다.

국립순천대학교 SW중심대학사업단 심춘보 단장은 “이번 4개 대학 간 협약을 계기로 더 많은 지역 대학들이 참여해 우리나라 SW·AI 분야를 선도할 인재 양성을 위한 학술 교류의 기반이 넓어지기를 기대한다”고 밝혔다.

한편, 국립순천대학교 SW중심대학사업은 과학기술정보통신부와 정보통신기획평가원(IITP)의 지원을 받아 전라남도, 순천시, 광양시, 여수시, 고흥군과 협력해 지역 내 SW 가치 확산을 위한 다양한 교육 프로그램을 운영하고 있다.

SCNU Expands Exchange Opportunities Between Yeongnam and Honam Students through SW Academic Conference

- 15 teams from 4 universities participated; MOU signed to strengthen cooperation in SW education

Sunchon National University (SCNU, President Lee Byung-woon) hosted the 2nd Yeongnam?Honam Student SW Academic Exchange Conference from August 20 to 22, in collaboration with Kyungnam University, Kunsan National University, and Chosun University SW projects.

Building on the inaugural event co-hosted by SCNU and Andong National University last year, this year’s conference expanded to four universities. The program was designed to strengthen academic exchange and cooperation among SW-centered universities in the Yeongnam and Honam regions, while enhancing students’ creativity, programming skills, and practical experience.

A total of 15 teams with 51 students participated in diverse activities, including poster and oral presentations, reverse engineering assessments, networking sessions, and awards ceremonies. Project themes covered a wide range of IT fields such as AI and computer vision, big data analysis, IoT and embedded systems, and web/app development.

The Grand Prize went to SCNU’s Computer Engineering team “Ttom,” composed of Yoon Han-sik (team leader, senior), Kim Sung-pyo (senior), Kim Chae-won (senior), and Jang Seo-yoon (sophomore), who developed a mobile application to promote local festivals in Jeollanam-do. Additional awards included one Excellence Prize per university and one Reverse Engineering Prize.

Reflecting on the experience, Grand Prize winner Yoon Han-sik said: “By seeing creative projects from other universities, I gained new ideas and meaningful academic insights through the reverse engineering evaluation. I strongly recommend this conference to students interested in diverse fields such as gaming, blockchain, and deep learning.”

During the event, the four universities also signed an MOU to strengthen cooperation in SW education, including joint development and sharing of educational content, credit exchange, and co-hosting academic conferences and competitions.

Professor Shim Choon-bo, Director of SCNU’s SW-Centered University Project, stated: “We expect this MOU to broaden the foundation for academic exchange, enabling more regional universities to join in nurturing talent that will lead Korea’s SW and AI fields.”

Supported by the Ministry of Science and ICT and the Institute of Information & Communications Technology Planning & Evaluation (IITP), SCNU’s SW-Centered University Project collaborates with Jeollanam-do, Suncheon City, Gwangyang City, Yeosu City, and Goheung County to operate a wide range of educational programs aimed at expanding SW value across the region.
