- 호남권 유일 2년 연속 S등급… 교육혁신성과·성과관리 전 부문 최고 평가

- 총 125억 원 내외 사업비 확보… 지역 중심 고등교육 혁신 거점 입지 강화

국립순천대학교(총장 이병운)는 교육부가 주관한 ‘2025년 국립대학육성사업’ 성과평가에서 호남권 국립대학 중 유일하게 2년 연속 최고 등급인 S등급을 획득하며, 총 125억 원 내외의 사업비를 확보했다고 밝혔다.

국립순천대는 이번 평가에서 ‘교육혁신성과’와 ‘자체 성과관리’ 두 개 부문 모두 최고 등급(S등급)을 획득하며, 대학의 자율혁신 역량과 교육 경쟁력을 다시 한번 입증했다. 특히, 두 개 평가 영역 모두에서 최고 등급을 받은 사례는 전국 13개 국가중심국립대학 중에서도 극소수로, 비수도권 대학 중에는 국립순천대가 유일한 것으로 알려졌다.

국립순천대는 ‘미래역량 중심의 학생성장을 실현하는 GSCNU 교육혁신’을 목표로 단계별 교육혁신 로드맵을 제시하고, 모집단위 대개편을 통한 학생 전공선택권 확대와 이를 뒷받침하는 전 주기적 학생성장 지원체계를 잘 구축하였다는 점에서 높은 평가를 받았다.

또한, 자체 성과관리 영역 역시 통합성과관리시스템 구축 및 PDSA(Plan, Do, Study, Act) 기반 환류 체계 마련, 데이터 기반 성과 분석을 통한 성과관리 체계화 등 정량·정성 지표 전반에서 우수한 평가를 받았다.

이병운 총장은 “2년 연속 최고 등급 획득은 우리대학의 교육혁신과 미래역량 중심 교육체계가 제대로 평가받은 결과”라며, “앞으로도 글로컬대학30, RISE 사업 등 국가재정지원사업과 연계하여 지역사회와 동반 성장하고, 정주 기반 고등교육 체계를 구축하는 데 최선을 다하겠다”고 밝혔다.

한편, 국립대학육성사업은 전국 37개 국립대학이 참여하는 정부재정지원사업으로, 국립대학의 자율적 혁신을 통해 대학 경쟁력을 강화하는 것을 목표로 추진되고 있다. 대학별 사업비는 전년도와 달리 ‘교육혁신 성과’와 ‘자체 성과관리’ 등 2개 영역에 대한 평가를 통해 두 영역 각각 S등급부터 C등급까지 차등 지원된다.

SCNU Achieves Top “S” Grade for Second Consecutive Year in National University Development Project Performance Evaluation

- Only university in the Gwangju-Jeonnam region to earn S grade two years in a row, with top marks in both education innovation and performance management

- Secures approximately KRW 12.5 billion in project funding, strengthening its position as a hub for region-centered higher education innovation

Sunchon National University (SCNU, President Lee Byung-woon) announced that it has earned the top grade of “S” for the second consecutive year in the Ministry of Education’s 2025 National University Development Project performance evaluation. SCNU is the only national university in the Honam region to achieve this distinction, securing approximately KRW 12.5 billion (about USD 9.3 million) in project funding.

In this year’s evaluation, SCNU received the highest “S” grade in both the Education Innovation Performance and Internal Performance Management categories, reaffirming its capacity for autonomous innovation and its competitiveness in education. Notably, among the 13 national hub universities across the country, only a small number attained the top grade in both categories ? with SCNU being the only non-metropolitan university to do so.

SCNU was highly rated for presenting a phased roadmap for education innovation under the goal of “GSCNU Education Innovation for Realizing Student Growth Focused on Future Competencies.” The university expanded students’ choice of majors through large-scale restructuring of academic units and established a comprehensive, full-cycle student growth support system to back these changes.

In the Internal Performance Management category, SCNU also excelled by building an integrated performance management system, establishing a PDCA (Plan?Do?Check?Act) based feedback framework, and systematizing performance management through data-driven performance analysis ? achieving outstanding results across both quantitative and qualitative indicators.

President Lee Byung-woon stated, “Achieving the top grade for two consecutive years is a clear recognition of our university’s education innovation efforts and our future competency-based education system. We will continue to work in alignment with national funding initiatives such as the Glocal University 30 and RISE projects to foster co-growth with the local community and to establish a sustainable, settlement-based higher education system.”

The National University Development Project is a government-funded program involving 37 national universities across Korea, aimed at strengthening competitiveness through autonomous institutional innovation. Unlike in previous years, the 2025 project funding allocation was determined based on evaluations in two categories ? Education Innovation Performance and Internal Performance Management ? with differential funding from S to C grades in each category.
