- 2025학년도 대상은 '디지털 너머의 산책' … 정규 교과목 반영으로 학습자 중심 교육 실현

국립순천대학교(총장 이병운) 교육혁신본부 교양교육원은 지난 20일 ‘2025학년도 재학생 대상 교양 교과목 제안 공모전’에 입상한 우수작 시상식을 개최했다고 밝혔다.

국립대학육성사업의 일환인‘재학생 대상 교양 교과목 제안 공모전’은 교양교육원의 대표 프로그램으로, 재학생이 교양 교과목 아이디어를 직접 제안할 수 있는 기회를 제공하여 학습자 수요를 반영한 맞춤형 교육과 학생 공감 대학 혁신을 실현하고자 매년 초(4~5월) 정기적으로 시행되고 있다.

심사는 교수진으로 구성된 전문가 평가와 재학생 온라인 투표 결과를 합산하여 진행되었으며, 대상 1과목, 우수상 2과목, 장려상 3과목 등 총 6개 과목이 최종 선정되었다.

올해 수상 교과목에는 △여순 10·19와 기억 △실패학: 잘 넘어지고 다시 일어서는 법 △게임 디자인, 기술, 그리고 미학 △마음이 머무는 드로잉(크로키) △수면의 과학, 건강한 삶을 위한 잠의 이해 등 급변하는 시대 흐름과 학생들의 다양한 관심사를 반영한 과목이 대거 이름을 올렸다.

대상은 1차 서면 심사와 2차 재학생 온라인 투표 합산 점수가 가장 높았던 ‘디지털 너머의 산책’ 교과목이 수상하였다. 해당 교과목은 디지털 과부하와 중독 문제를 인식하고, 산책·금식 등 자연 체험과 디지털 디톡스를 통해 정신적 회복과 자기조절 능력을 기를 수 있도록 과학 이론과 인문학적 통찰을 융합한 실천 중심 교과로 제안되었다.

입상 학생들의 자긍심을 북돋기 위해 20일 대학 본부에서 열린 공개 시상식에서는 ▲대상 이도은(전자공학과) ▲우수상 홍지민·나랑(사회교육과), 임한별(원예학과) ▲장려상 정현섭(인공지능공학부), 강수인(생명산업과학분야), 심예림(중어중문학과) 학생에게 장학금과 상장이 수여되었다.

남기창 교학부총장은 “여러분의 제안은 단순한 아이디어가 아닌, 우리 교육을 바꾸는 작은 시작”이라며, “기획과 참여의 전 과정을 통해 배움의 의미를 스스로 체험하는 계기가 되었기를 바란다”고 말했다. 손승남 교양교육원장도 “제안 교과목이 실질적인 교육과정으로 반영될 수 있도록 지속적인 관심을 부탁드리며, 교양교육의 본질인 인성과 가치관 함양에 충실한 교과목 운영에 최선을 다하겠다”고 밝혔다.

한편, 학생들의 다양한 의견이 반영된 제안 교과목은 공정한 심사와 절차를 거쳐 정규 교양 교과목 개설로 이어지고 있다. 2024학년도 학생 대상 교양 교과목 제안 공모전 수상작 <애니메이션·문화콘텐츠로 배우는 글로컬 인재역량>, <어휘로 세상을 보다: 생각의 깊이를 깊게 하는 어휘력> 등은 2025학년도 교양 교육과정에 정규 교과목으로 개설되었다.

Sunchon National University Hosts Award Ceremony for Student-Proposed General Education Courses

Sunchon National University (President Lee Byung-woon) held an award ceremony on June 20 for the winners of its 2025 Student-Proposed General Education Course Contest.

As a flagship program of the Institute for General Education under the university’s Education Innovation Division, the contest is part of a national university support initiative. It is held annually to encourage students to propose ideas for new general education courses, reflecting student interests and promoting student-centered innovation in education.

The judging process combined expert evaluations by faculty members and online student voting. A total of six courses were selected: one Grand Prize winner, two Excellence Prizes, and three Merit Prizes.

This year’s award-winning proposals covered diverse topics such as the historical memory of the Yeosu?Suncheon Incident (1948), the value of failure and resilience, game design and aesthetics, croquis drawing, and the science of sleep. The Grand Prize-winning course, “Walking Beyond the Digital,” was praised for its integrative design that combines scientific theory and humanities to help students manage digital overload through nature-based experiences.

Award recipients include, Grand Prize: Lee Do-eun (Electronic Engineering) Excellence Prizes: Hong Ji-min & Na Rang (Social Education), Lim Han-byeol (Horticulture) Merit Prizes: Jeong Hyeon-seop (AI Engineering), Kang Su-in (Life Science), Sim Ye-rim (Chinese Language and Literature)

Vice President for Academic Affairs Nam Ki-chang emphasized that these proposals mark “the beginning of meaningful change in education,” while Institute Director Son Seung-nam pledged continued support to ensure selected proposals are incorporated into the regular curriculum.

Previously awarded courses, such as Global Competency through Animation and Cultural Contents and Deepening Thought through Vocabulary, have already been adopted into the university’s 2025 general education curriculum.
