- 인권센터 서포터즈, 익명 커뮤니티 혐오 표현·디지털 성범죄 예방에 앞장

국립순천대학교(총장 이병운) 인권센터는 익명 커뮤니티에서 빈번히 발생하는 젠더 및 인종 혐오·차별 표현과 디지털 성범죄 예방을 위해, 시험 기간인 10일부터 12일까지 3일간 교내 도서관 등 주요 시설에서 ‘인권 감수성 향상 캠페인’을 펼쳤다고 밝혔다.

국립대학육성사업의 일환인 이번 캠페인은 대학생 전용 커뮤니티인 ‘에브리타임’ 등 익명 커뮤니티를 중심으로 확산되는 혐오 표현과 성희롱·성폭력 발언에 대한 경각심을 일깨우고, 이를 예방하고자 추진했다.

캠페인에는 인권센터 서포터즈 20명과 교직원 10여 명 등 총 30여 명이 참여했다. 이들은 점심·저녁 시간대 유동 학생이 많은 시간에 맞춰 어깨띠와 홍보 피켓을 착용하고 캠페인 취지를 담은 홍보물을 배포하며 학생들과 적극 소통했다.

특히 도서관과 강의동 등 기말고사 기간 학생들이 집중적으로 이용하는 공간에서는 디지털 성범죄 예방을 위해 불법촬영카메라 탐지기를 활용한 화장실 현장 점검도 병행하며 건강하고 안전한 캠퍼스 환경 조성에 앞장섰다.

이번 캠페인은 인권센터 서포터즈가 사전 교육과 회의를 거쳐 캠페인 문구뿐 아니라 현장 활동 방식까지 직접 기획하고 준비 단계부터 적극적으로 주도한 점에서 의미를 더했다. 서포터즈 임한별 학생(원예학과 4학년)은 “사람들이 먼저 다가와 질문하고, 캠페인 취지에 공감해 주는 모습을 보며 보람을 느꼈다”라며, “앞으로도 일상 속 인권의 중요성을 알리는 활동이 계속 이어지길 바란다”라고 소감을 전했다.

국립순천대학교 정동보 인권센터장은 “이번 캠페인은 학생들이 직접 발로 뛰며 실천한 ‘참여형 인권 교육’의 좋은 사례”라며, “앞으로도 인권센터는 상담·지원 기능을 넘어, 학생들과 함께 실천 중심 인권 문화를 만들어갈 것”이라고 밝혔다.

Sunchon National University Human Rights Center Launches Sensitivity Awareness Campaign During Exam Week

? Student Supporters Take the Lead in Preventing Hate Speech and Digital Sexual Crimes in Online Communities

Sunchon National University (President Lee Byung-woon) announced that its Human Rights Center conducted a Human Rights Sensitivity Awareness Campaign from June 10 to 12 during the university’s exam week. The campaign took place at key campus locations including the library, and aimed to raise awareness about hate speech and digital sexual crimes that frequently occur on anonymous online platforms.

As part of the National University Development Project, the campaign addressed discriminatory language related to gender and race, as well as sexually explicit content, commonly found on student communities such as “Everytime,” a popular anonymous campus platform. The initiative sought to foster greater awareness and prevention of such issues among students.

Approximately 30 individuals, including 20 Human Rights Center student supporters and 10 staff members, participated in the campaign. Donning sashes and holding informational placards, they engaged students during high-traffic lunch and evening hours, distributing promotional materials and encouraging dialogue on campus human rights awareness.

In addition to outreach efforts, the campaign included on-site inspections of restrooms in heavily used areas such as the library and lecture halls. These inspections utilized illegal camera detectors to prevent digital sex crimes and promote a safe and secure campus environment during the final exam period.

What made this campaign particularly meaningful was the active leadership of the student supporters. From planning campaign slogans to deciding field activity methods, students took initiative through preparatory meetings and training. Lim Han-byeol, a fourth-year student in Horticulture and one of the supporters, shared, “It was rewarding to see students approach us with questions and express empathy toward the campaign’s purpose. I hope to see more ongoing efforts that promote everyday awareness of human rights.”

Jung Dong-bo, Director of the Human Rights Center, stated, “This campaign is a great example of participatory human rights education led by students themselves. The Human Rights Center will continue not only to provide support services but also to actively build a hands-on, student-driven culture of human rights on campus.”
