-  ‘글로벌 리더의 첫걸음: 미국 유학과 리더십의 기회’ 주제로 유학 전략과 진로 설계 소개

국립순천대학교(총장 이병운)는 지난 23일 농업경제학과 주최로 ‘미주리주립대학교 아시아센터 초청 글로벌 리더십 특강’을 성황리에 개최하였다고 밝혔다.

이날 특강에는 미주리주립대학교 아시아센터의 유승권 박사와 정제국 박사가 직접 순천대를 방문해 ‘글로벌 리더의 첫걸음: 미국 유학과 리더십의 기회’를 주제로 강연에 나섰으며, 글로벌 진로와 해외 유학에 관심 있는 약 60여 명이 참석했다.

유승권 박사는 교환학생 제도, 국제학생을 위한 지원 서비스, 유학 준비 전략 등 유학 생활을 위한 체계적인 정보를 전달하였으며, 정제국 박사는 미주리주립대학교의 대표적인 리더십 개발 프로그램인 LEAD(Leadership, Education and Development)의 내용과 운영 사례를 소개하고, 글로벌 사회에서 요구되는 핵심 역량과 진로 설계 전략을 공유했다. 

특강 이후에는 연사들과 학생들 간의 자유로운 질의응답 시간이 이어졌고, 일부 학생들은 교환학생 프로그램 참여 및 LEAD 프로그램 지원 의사를 밝히며 높은 관심을 보였다.

또한, 이날 특강을 마치고 미주리주립대학교 아시아센터 관계자들과 전라남도 동부지역본부 일자리투자유치국장, 순천대학교 기획처장, 산학협력단장, 농업경제학과 교수 등이 별도의 간담회를 개최하고 QS아시아랭킹 향상 방안 등 다각적인 협력 방향을 모색하며, 앞으로 활발한 상호 교류를 이어가기로 약속하였다.

이번 행사를 기획한 농업경제학과 송경환 교수(국립순천대학교 산학협력단장)는 “국제무대 진출을 고민하는 학생들에게 실질적인 동기부여가 되었길 바란다.”며, “미국 현지 프로그램에 대한 직접적인 정보를 얻을 수 있었던 유익한 시간이었다”라고 평가했다. 

한편, 국립순천대학교 농업경제학과는 글로벌 인재 양성을 위해 이번 특강을 시작으로, 해외 대학과의 협력 강화를 통해 실질적인 유학 및 진로 정보 제공 기회를 지속해서 확대할 계획이다.

SCNU Hosts Global Leadership Lecture in Collaboration with Missouri State University Asia Center

Sunchon National University (SCNU, President Lee Byung-woon) announced that the Department of Agricultural Economics successfully hosted a special lecture on global leadership on May 23, in collaboration with the Asia Center of Missouri State University.

Dr. Seungkwon Yoo and Dr. Jeguk Jeong from the Asia Center visited SCNU and delivered a lecture titled “The First Step to Becoming a Global Leader: Study Abroad and Leadership Opportunities in the U.S.” Approximately 60 students interested in international careers and study abroad attended the event.

The lecture covered practical topics such as student exchange programs, support services for international students, and study abroad preparation. It also introduced Missouri State University's flagship leadership development program, LEAD (Leadership, Education and Development), along with career planning strategies for success in a global society.

Following the lecture, a Q&A session was held, during which several students expressed interest in joining exchange programs and the LEAD initiative. A separate meeting was also held with officials from the Asia Center, SCNU faculty, and local government representatives to explore future collaboration, including strategies to enhance SCNU’s QS Asia University Rankings.

Professor Kyunghwan Song, who organized the event, noted that the lecture provided meaningful motivation for students pursuing international opportunities and offered valuable, first-hand information about studying in the U.S.

SCNU’s Department of Agricultural Economics plans to continue expanding global partnerships to provide practical career and study abroad guidance for its students.
