- 2024년 교육기부 우수기관 인증… 전문성 인정받은 멘토단

- 지역 진로 탐색 지원을 위한 다양한 프로그램 운영

국립순천대학교(총장 이병운)는 ‘2025학년도 SCNU 전공 멘토단 3기’를 선발하고, 올해 12월까지 다양한 진로 탐색 프로그램을 운영할 계획이라고 밝혔다.

SCNU 전공 멘토단 3기는 서류와 면접 평가 등 공정한 선발 과정을 거쳐 총 20개 전공에서 재학생 27명을 최종 선발하였으며, 선발된 멘토들을 대상으로 아나운서 초청 스피치 특강, 멘토단 오리엔테이션 등 2차에 걸친 소양교육을 실시하였다. 이를 바탕으로 지역 중·고등학생을 대상으로 하는 전공 안내 프로그램 ‘대학생 멘토 특강’,‘수능 이후 고3 대상 교양 특강’,‘SCNU 전공 멘토단 블로그’등을 진행할 계획이다.

글로컬대학30 사업의 일환으로 적극 추진하고 있는 SCNU 전공 멘토단은 올해로 3년차를 맞았다. 매년 1년 단위로 운영되는 이 프로그램은 2024년 교육부와 한국과학창의재단 주관 ‘교육기부 우수기관 인증제’에서 대학생 동아리 분야에 선정되어 전공 소개와 진로 지도에 대한 전문성을 인정받았다.

국립순천대학교 강희순 입학처장은 “2025학년도 SCNU 전공 멘토단 3기는 온·오프라인을 망라한 다양한 프로그램을 통해 지역 중·고교생 진로 탐색을 적극적으로 지원할 예정”이라며, “글로컬대학사업 3년차를 맞이한 국립순천대학교가 지역 학생들의 자기 주도적 진로 설계 능력 함양에 기여할 수 있기를 바란다”라고 전했다.

한편 국립순천대학교 입학처는 전남 지역 내 중·고등학생들에게 대입 관련 정보와 진로·진학 정보를 제공하기 위해 △SCNU 오픈캠퍼스, △찾아가는 미래인재 발굴, △SCNU 고교-연계 개설전공특강 등 다양한 고교-대학 연계 프로그램을 적극 추진하고 있다.

SCNU Launches 3rd “Major Mentorship Program” to Guide Local Students’ Academic and Career Paths

Suncheon National University (SCNU, President Byung-Woon Lee) has launched the 3rd cohort of its “SCNU Major Mentorship Program” for the 2025 academic year, aiming to support local middle and high school students in exploring academic majors and future career paths. This year, 27 student mentors representing 20 different majors were selected through a competitive screening and interview process. The selected mentors received two rounds of training sessions, including an orientation and a speech workshop delivered by a professional announcer, designed to equip them with effective communication skills and mentoring capabilities.

The SCNU Major Mentorship Program, now in its third year, is a flagship outreach initiative under Korea’s Glocal University 30 Project. It provides student-led educational opportunities through a series of activities such as major introduction lectures, post-exam liberal arts sessions for high school seniors, and blog content produced by the mentors themselves. The program was recognized in 2024 as an “Excellent Education Donation Program” by the Ministry of Education and the Korea Foundation for the Advancement of Science and Creativity, affirming its professionalism and impact in the area of university-based career mentoring.

SCNU continues to broaden its support for youth in the Jeollanam-do region by offering a wide range of outreach programs that connect secondary education with higher education. In addition to the Major Mentorship Program, SCNU's Admissions Office runs initiatives such as the SCNU Open Campus, the Visiting Talent Discovery Program, and tailored lectures in partnership with local high schools. Through these efforts, SCNU seeks to foster self-directed learning among local students while enhancing the university’s role in community engagement and regional development.
