- 언어, 문화, 마음과 AI 산업의 접점 모색 … 국내외 연구진, 인공지능 시대의 인간성·공동체 회복 논의

언어와 문화, 마음을 매개로 인공지능 시대의 인간성과 공동체 회복을 모색하는 국제 학술의 장이 열렸다.

국립순천대학교(총장 이병운) 인문학술원은 한국인문사회연구소협의회(KAHSI, 회장 강성호 국립순천대 인문학술원장) 산하 충남대 과학기술지식연구소 인문사회통합성과확산센터, 조선대 언어융합연구소와 공동으로 ‘2025 동계 한국인문사회연구소협의회 국제학술대회’를 지난 12일부터 13일까지 이틀간 조선대학교에서 개최했다.

이번 국제학술대회의 주제는 ‘AI 시대 언어·문화·마음’으로, 인공지능 기술 발전이 인간의 사고와 정서, 소통 방식, 공동체에 미치는 영향을 인문사회학적 관점에서 성찰하고, 기술과 인간의 공존 가능성을 탐색하는 데 초점을 맞췄다.

학술대회 기간 동안 총 7개 세션, 14개 패널에서 60여 편의 연구 발표가 진행됐으며, 주요 논의 주제로는 △위기와 타자, 그리고 치유의 인문학적 상상 △언어·문화·마음 △마음 치유 △지역사회와 마음 △세계문화와 마음 △고립·기억·치유 등이 다뤄졌다. 이를 통해 AI 시대 변화 속에서 인간 이해와 소통의 가능성을 다각도로 조명했다.

이번 행사는 경희대 비교문화연구소, 고려대 KU마음건강연구소, 고려대 민족문화연구원, 서강대 사회복지연구소, 아주대 삶의질연구센터, 충남대 지역혁신연구소, 충북대 국가위기관리연구소, 한국인문사회연구소협의회 인문사회기획정책연구원, 한림대 태동고전연구소 등 다수의 인문사회 연구기관이 함께 참여해 학술적 연대와 교류의 폭을 넓혔다.

강성호 국립순천대 인문학술원장 겸 한국인문사회연구소협의회 회장은 “이번 국제학술대회는 인문사회 연구와 과학기술 간 융합을 통해 새로운 학문 생태계를 모색하고, 인문사회 연구의 공공적 역할과 사회적 확산을 확대하는 데 목적이 있다”라며, “AI 시대에 요구되는 인간 이해와 치유, 공동체 회복의 논의가 국내를 넘어 국제적으로 확산되는 계기가 되길 기대한다”고 말했다.

Sunchon National University Institute of Humanities Co-Hosts World Conference on Humanities and Social Sciences with the Korean Association of Humanities and Social Sciences Institutes

- Exploring the intersection of language, culture, mind, and the AI industry as scholars discuss humanity and community in the age of artificial intelligence

An international academic forum exploring humanity and the restoration of community in the age of artificial intelligence, through the lenses of language, culture, and the mind, was held.The Institute of Humanities at Sunchon National University (President Lee Byeong-woon), together with the Korean Association of Humanities and Social Sciences Institutes (KAHSI; President Kang Sung-ho), the Center for Integrated Humanities and Social Sciences Outcomes at Chungnam National University, and the Language Convergence Research Institute at Chosun University, co-hosted the “2025 KAHSI Winter International Conference” from December 12 to 13 at Chosun University.

Under the theme “Language, Culture, and Mind in the AI Era,” the conference focused on examining the impacts of rapid AI development on human cognition, emotions, communication, and communities from humanities and social sciences perspectives, while exploring possibilities for coexistence between technology and humanity.

The conference featured a total of seven sessions and fourteen panels, with more than 60 research presentations. Key topics included crises and the Other, healing and the humanities, language, culture and mind, mental well-being, local communities, global culture, isolation, memory, and recovery, offering multifaceted insights into human understanding and communication in times of technological change.

The event brought together a wide range of humanities and social sciences research institutions, including Kyung Hee University’s Institute of Comparative Culture, Korea University’s KU Mental Health Research Institute and Research Institute of Korean Studies, Sogang University’s Institute of Social Welfare, Ajou University’s Center for Quality of Life Studies, Chungnam National University’s Regional Innovation Research Institute, Chungbuk National University’s National Crisis Management Research Institute, KAHSI’s Humanities and Social Policy Research Institute, and Hallym University’s Taedong Classical Research Institute, strengthening academic networks and collaboration.

Kang Sung-ho, Director of the Institute of Humanities at Sunchon National University and President of KAHSI, stated, “This international conference aims to explore new academic ecosystems through convergence between humanities and social sciences research and science and technology, while expanding the public role and social impact of humanities research. We hope discussions on human understanding, healing, and community restoration in the AI era will extend beyond Korea to the global academic community.”
