SCNU GTEP Students Strengthen Global Employability at the 2025 Gwangju?Jeonnam Overseas Job Fair
- Enhancing practical job-seeking skills through international career lectures and counseling sessions
Sunchon National University (SCNU, President Lee Byung-Woon) announced that five members of the 19th Glocal Trade Expert Incubating Program (GTEP), led by Professor Lee Jae-Eun, participated in the “2025 Gwangju?Jeonnam Overseas Job Fair” held on October 29 at the G&R HUB of Chonnam National University.
Supported by SCNU’s Career Development Headquarters, the GTEP trainees attended overseas employment lectures and career counseling sessions designed to enhance their global employability and refine their individual career goals.
The event featured welcoming remarks followed by key sessions, including the Human Resources Development Service of Korea’s (HRD Korea) Overseas Employment Seminar and KOTRA’s Foreign-Invested Companies Recruitment Briefing. These sessions provided practical insights into global job application procedures, working environments, and government support systems. KOTRA representatives also shared recruitment practices of multinational companies and the essential competencies required for success in global industries.
Participants visited HRD Korea and university booths to gather country- and industry-specific job information while engaging in consultation sessions that offered real-world perspectives. Interactive programs such as a booth stamp tour and on-site survey events added to the dynamic atmosphere.
Senior student Gu Bon-Ung (Department of International Trade) shared, “Through consultations with organizations like Alps Korea, Jeju Shinhwa World, and WorldJobPlus, I learned how to establish a more efficient job-seeking strategy. The KOTRA briefing also helped me clearly understand the key competencies required for airline cabin crew positions.”
Junior student Noh Hyun-Jun (Department of International Trade) added, “Overseas employment felt abstract before, but speaking directly with professionals gave me valuable motivation. It was especially helpful to learn about specific preparation steps for pursuing a trade career in English-speaking markets.”
Meanwhile, the SCNU GTEP Program will participate in WorldFood Kazakhstan 2025 from November 12 to 14, supporting domestic small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in expanding exports and entering global markets as part of its mission to cultivate globally competent young trade professionals.
