- 헝가리·일본 등 다양한 국가 바이어와 7건 상담, 약 5만 달러 성과 달성

국립순천대학교(총장 이병운)는 제19기 지역특화청년무역전문가양성사업단(단장 이재은, 이하 GTEP사업단)의 구본웅(무역학전공 4년), 장윤서(무역학전공 3년) 요원이 지난 9월 2일부터 5일까지 튀르키예 이스탄불에서 열린‘터키 이스탄불 식품 박람회 2025(WORLDFOOD ISTANBUL 2025)’에 참가했다고 밝혔다.

이번 박람회는 튀르키예 최대 규모의 식품 전문 B2B 박람회이자 유럽, 중동, CIS 지역을 아우르는 글로벌 식품 교류의 중심 플랫폼으로 자리매김했다. 전 세계 43개국에서 1,276개 기업과 2,889개 브랜드가 참가하고 약 7만 2,800여 명의 참관객이 방문했으며, 900명 이상의 VIP 바이어가 초청되어 활발한 1:1 수출 상담을 진행했다. 이를 통해 참가 기업들은 터키 내수 시장뿐 아니라 유럽, 중동, 아프리카 등 해외 수출 교두보를 확대할 수 있는 기회를 얻었으며, 글로벌 식품 산업의 활발한 교류와 실질적인 성과를 거두는 등 성황을 이뤘다.

국립순천대 GTEP사업단은 협력업체 △완도맘영어조합법인 함께 전시 부스를 운영하며 냉동 전복과 해조류(미역, 김, 다시마)를 중심으로 제품을 소개하고, 바이어 상담을 진행했다. 초기에는 제품의 특장점과 활용 방안을 제시해 관심을 끌고, 이후 물량·단가·가격 조건·물류 등 구체적인 수출 협의를 이어갔다. 그 결과, 튀르키예, 사우디아라비아, 레바논, 헝가리, 일본, 쿠웨이트 등 6개국 바이어와 총 7건의 상담을 진행해 약 5만 달러 규모의 상담 성과를 달성했다. 더불어 튀르키예 콘야 상공회의소(KTO) 및 카라타이대학교와의 교류 활동과 공동 인터뷰를 통해 무역 인재 양성의 기반을 마련했다.

구본웅(무역학전공 4년) 요원은 “이번 박람회 현장에서 네트워크의 중요성을 깨달았으며, 바이어와의 상담뿐만 아니라 기업 간 연결, 나아가 국가 경쟁력으로 이어지는 무역의 가치를 직접 체감할 수 있어 뜻깊은 경험이었다”고 전했다. 장윤서(무역학전공 3년) 요원은 “예상보다 많은 방문객과 바이어가 부스를 찾아와 제품 상담을 진행하며 실질적인 경험을 쌓을 수 있었다”라며, “다만 현지어나 영어 실력이 부족해 소통에 어려움을 겪으면서 언어 능력과 커뮤니케이션 능력의 중요성을 다시 한번 깨닫는 계기가 되었다”라고 밝혔다.

한편, 국립순천대학교 GTEP사업단은 오는 11월 12일(수)부터 14일(금)까지 개최되는‘월드푸드 카자흐스탄 2025(WORLDFOOD KAZAKHTAN 2025)’에 참가할 예정이며, 국내 중소·중견 기업의 수출 확대와 글로벌 시장 진출을 적극 지원할 계획이다.

SCNU GTEP Team Participates in “WorldFood Istanbul 2025,” Achieving USD 50,000 in Export Consultations

- Holds seven business meetings with buyers from Hungary, Japan, and other countries

Sunchon National University (SCNU, President Lee Byung-woon) announced that two members of its 19th Glocal Trade Expert Training Program (GTEP)?Bonoong Koo (senior, Department of International Trade) and Yunseo Jang (junior, Department of International Trade)?took part in WorldFood Istanbul 2025, held from September 2 to 5 in Istanbul, T?rkiye.

WorldFood Istanbul is T?rkiye’s largest specialized B2B food exhibition and a key global platform connecting Europe, the Middle East, and the CIS region. This year, the fair hosted 1,276 companies and 2,889 brands from 43 countries and attracted over 72,800 visitors, including more than 900 VIP buyers. The event enabled participating companies to explore opportunities not only in the Turkish domestic market but also across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, while facilitating extensive international exchanges and concrete business outcomes.

The SCNU GTEP team operated a joint booth with its partner, Wando Mom Fisheries Cooperative, showcasing frozen abalone and seaweed products such as miyeok (sea mustard), gim (laver), and dasima (kelp). They first highlighted product characteristics and applications to capture buyer interest and then engaged in detailed export negotiations covering volume, pricing, and logistics. As a result, they held seven business meetings with buyers from six countries?T?rkiye, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Hungary, Japan, and Kuwait?achieving approximately USD 50,000 in export consultation agreements.

In addition, the team strengthened trade-education networks by engaging in exchange activities and joint interviews with the Konya Chamber of Commerce (KTO) and Karatay University in T?rkiye, laying the groundwork for future global trade talent development.

Reflecting on the experience, Bonoong Koo said, “I realized the importance of networking at the trade fair and experienced first-hand how buyer consultations and company-to-company connections can ultimately enhance national competitiveness.” Yunseo Jang added, “The number of visitors and buyers exceeded expectations, providing meaningful on-site experience. At the same time, I recognized the need to further improve my language and communication skills to engage more effectively in global trade settings.”

Looking ahead, SCNU’s GTEP team plans to participate in WorldFood Kazakhstan 2025, scheduled for November 12?14, to continue supporting Korean small and medium-sized enterprises in expanding exports and entering global markets.
