국립순천대학교(총장 이병운)는 최근 총장 일행이 몽골을 방문해 외교부 및 주요 대학과 국제교류 협력을 강화했다고 밝혔다.

이병운 총장은 17일, 몽골 외교부 장관과의 면담에서 바양헝거르 지역을 포함한 몽골 학생들의 유학 기회 확대를 위한 협력 방안을 논의하고, 몽골 정부의 적극적인 지원을 요청했다.

또한 국립순천대학교는 1999년 최초 협약을 맺은 몽골 국립농업대학교가 이후 몽골생명과학대학교로 교명을 변경함에 따라, 이번에 MOU를 갱신 체결했다. 이번 협약을 통해 양 기관은 ▲스마트팜 및 미래농업 분야 공동연구 ▲교수·학생 교류 ▲공동학위 프로그램 개발 등 실질적 협력을 추진하기로 했다.

이와 함께 국립순천대 대표단은 몽골 이데르대학교를 방문해 저릭트 총장과 ▲교환학생 확대 ▲공동학위 과정 운영 ▲해외 공동연구소 운영 ▲한국어교육, 문화체험 지원 ▲청년 인재 양성을 위한 교류 방안을 협의했다.

이병운 총장은 “국립순천대학교는 지역과 함께 성장하는 글로컬 대학으로서 국제 협력을 지속 확대하고 있다”라며, “몽골 정부 및 대학들과의 협력이 스마트팜, 미래농업, 인재 양성 분야에서 큰 성과를 이끌어낼 것”이라고 말했다.

한편, 국립순천대학교에서는 올해 대학원생을 포함해 총 149명의 몽골 유학생이 글로벌 인재로 학업을 이어가고 있다.

SCNU Strengthens International Exchange with Mongolian Government and Universities

Sunchon National University (SCNU, President Lee Byung-woon) announced that a university delegation recently visited Mongolia to strengthen international cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and leading universities.

On September 17, President Lee met with the Mongolian Foreign Minister to discuss expanding study abroad opportunities for Mongolian students, including those from the Bayankhongor region, and requested active support from the Mongolian government.

During the visit, SCNU renewed its Memorandum of Understanding with the Mongolian University of Life Sciences, formerly the Mongolian State University of Agriculture, with which it first signed an agreement in 1999. Under the renewed MOU, the two institutions agreed to pursue substantive collaboration in areas such as joint research on smart farming and future agriculture, faculty and student exchanges, and the development of joint degree programs.

The SCNU delegation also visited Ider University, where President Lee met with President Jorigt to discuss expanding student exchange programs, operating joint degree courses, establishing overseas joint research institutes, supporting Korean language education and cultural experiences, and fostering youth talent through bilateral exchange.

President Lee stated, “As a Glocal University growing together with the community, SCNU continues to expand its international partnerships. Our cooperation with the Mongolian government and universities will generate significant achievements in smart farming, future agriculture, and talent development.”

Currently, SCNU hosts a total of 149 Mongolian students, including graduate students, who are continuing their studies as part of the university’s global talent development efforts.
