- 공학 및 기술 분야 QS 세계대학순위 262위, 튀르키예 공학특화 명문대학과 공동연구·인재 교류 추진

국립순천대학교(총장 이병운)는 7월 29일(화) 오전 11시, 대학본부 중회의실에서 튀르키예의 명문 공과대학인 일디즈공과대학교(Yildiz Technical University)와 국제교류 협력을 위한 대학 간 업무 협약을 체결했다.

이번 협약식에는 일디즈공과대학교에서 에윕 데빅(Eyup Debik) 총장을 비롯해 후세인 일마즈(H?seyin Yılmaz) 부총장, 외제르 츠르느(?zer Cırnu) 교수, 젠기즈 카야(Cengiz Kaya) 연구기획·조정사무소장이 참석했다. 국립순천대학교에서는 이병운 총장, 남기창 교학부총장, 송경환 산학협력단장, 김병철 첨단신소재공학과 교수가 함께해 양교 간 실질적인 협력 방안에 대해 논의했다.

일디즈공과대학교는 1911년 설립된 튀르키예 이스탄불 소재 국립대학으로, 100년 이상의 전통을 바탕으로 공학·기술 분야에서 세계적 경쟁력을 갖춘 대학이다. 특히 2025년 QS 세계대학평가 ‘공학 및 기술(Engineering & Technology)’ 분야에서 262위를 기록했으며, 튀르키예 내에서는 4위에 해당하는 우수한 평가를 받고 있다. 현재 10개 단과대학, 40여 개 학부 전공을 운영중으로, 약 3만 5천 명이 재학 중이다.

이번 협약을 통해 양 대학은 ▲공동 연구개발(R&D) 과제 추진 ▲교수 및 연구진 교류 ▲학부 및 대학원생 상호 파견 ▲공동 심포지엄 및 워크숍 개최 등 폭넓은 분야에서 협력을 이어나갈 계획이다.

국립순천대학교 이병운 총장은 “오늘 체결된 협약은 단순한 형식적 교류가 아니라, 서로의 강점을 기반으로 함께 새로운 가치를 창출하자는 ‘공동 혁신’의 약속”이라며 “국립순천대학교는 글로벌 기술혁신 생태계 안에서 일디즈공과대학교와 함께 미래 산업을 선도할 인재와 지식을 만들어갈 것”이라고 밝혔다.

국립순천대학교는 앞으로도 국제적 경쟁력을 갖춘 대학과의 전략적 협력을 지속 확대해, 글로벌 교육·연구 네트워크를 강화하고 지역과 세계를 잇는 혁신 플랫폼으로 자리매김할 계획이다.

Sunchon National University Signs MOU with Yildiz Technical University in T?rkiye to Promote International Cooperation

Sunchon National University (President Lee Byung-woon) announced that it signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Yildiz Technical University, a prestigious public engineering university in T?rkiye, on July 29 at 11:00 a.m. in the Main Conference Room of the University Headquarters.

The signing ceremony was attended by Eyup Debik, President of Yildiz Technical University, along with Vice President H?seyin Yılmaz, Professor ?zer Cırnu, and Director of Planning and Coordination Cengiz Kaya. From Sunchon National University, President Lee Byung-woon, Vice President for Academic Affairs Nam Ki-chang, Director of the Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation Song Kyung-hwan, and Professor Kim Byung-chul from the Department of Advanced Materials Engineering were present to discuss practical cooperation strategies between the two institutions.

Established in 1911 and located in Istanbul, Yildiz Technical University is one of T?rkiye’s leading national universities, recognized globally for its strength in engineering and technology. In the 2025 QS World University Rankings, it was ranked 262nd in the field of Engineering & Technology and 4th nationwide in T?rkiye. The university currently operates 10 colleges and over 40 undergraduate departments, with an enrollment of approximately 35,000 students.

Under the agreement, the two universities plan to cooperate in a wide range of areas, including △ Joint research and development (R&D) initiatives △ Exchange programs for faculty and researchers △ Student exchange programs at the undergraduate and graduate levels △ Co-hosting of academic symposia and workshops

President Lee Byung-woon stated, “This agreement is not a ceremonial exchange, but a commitment to ‘joint innovation’ that leverages the strengths of both institutions to create new value. Together with Yildiz Technical University, Sunchon National University will nurture knowledge and talent that will lead future industries within the global innovation ecosystem.”
