- 6월 27일까지 운영 … 전통문화 체험 기회도 마련

국립순천대학교(총장 이병운) 박물관은 2024년부터 진행 중인 기획전 ‘무형문화재 전승공예품: 복식과 장식품을 중심으로’(이하 무형문화재전)를 오는 6월 27일까지 연장 운영한다고 밝혔다.

무형문화재전은 국립무형유산원이 소장한 복식 및 장식류 전승공예품 87점을 전시하고 있다. △갓 제작 기술인 ‘갓일’ △전통 신발을 만드는 ‘화혜장’ △금박을 입히는 ‘금박장’△전통 매듭을 제작하는 ‘매듭장’△정교한 자수를 놓는 ‘자수장’ 등 다양한 무형문화재 보유자 및 이수자의 작품을 감상할 수 있다.

국립순천대 박물관은 대학생, 청소년 및 문화소외계층을 대상으로 전시 연계 체험 프로그램도 함께 운영하고 있다. 개관 이후 현재까지 1,000여 명의 학생과 시민들이 버선 액자, 조각보, 자개 소반 만들기 활동을 통해 한국 전통문화를 직접 경험했다.

전시 및 교육 담당자는 “무형문화재 장인들의 수준 높은 전승공예품 전시에 지역민뿐 아니라, 외국인 방문객의 만족도도 높다. 연장 전시 기간 더 많은 분이 한국 전통 예술의 아름다움과 문화적 가치를 즐길 수 있기를 바란다.”라고 밝혔다.

Sunchon National University Museum Extends Special Exhibition on Intangible Cultural Heritage Craftsmanship Until June 27

Sunchon National University (President Lee Byeong-woon) has announced the extension of its ongoing special exhibition, “Intangible Cultural Heritage Craftsmanship: Focusing on Clothing and Ornaments” (hereinafter referred to as the “Intangible Cultural Heritage Exhibition”), until June 27, 2024.

This exhibition highlights 87 pieces of traditional attire and decorative crafts from the National Intangible Heritage Center’s collection. It features the intricate works of master artisans and certified practitioners specializing in various intangible cultural heritage crafts, including: Gat-making (Gat-il, 갓일): The traditional craft of making Korean horsehair hats, Hwahyejang (화혜장): The art of crafting traditional Korean footwear, Geumbakjang (금박장): The technique of applying gold leaf to fabrics, Maedeupjang (매듭장): The intricate art of traditional Korean decorative knots, Jasujang (자수장): The meticulous craft of Korean embroidery.

In addition to the exhibition, the Sunchon National University Museum offers interactive hands-on experience programs tailored for university students, teenagers, and underserved communities. Since the exhibition’s opening, over 1,000 participants?including students and local citizens?have had the opportunity to engage in traditional craft-making, such as creating framed traditional socks (beoseon), crafting patchwork textiles (jogakbo), and designing mother-of-pearl lacquered tables (najeon soban). These activities provide an immersive experience, allowing participants to engage with Korean traditional culture firsthand.

An exhibition and education coordinator commented, "This exhibition has been highly praised not only by local visitors but also by international guests for its exceptional display of craftsmanship by intangible cultural heritage artisans. We hope that the extended exhibition period will allow even more people to appreciate the beauty and cultural significance of Korean traditional art."

This special exhibition is part of the National University Development Project, which seeks to promote regional cultural and artistic development through collaboration with local cultural institutions, organizations, and artists.
