- 올해로 7년째 맞은 ‘SCNU 오픈캠퍼스’ … 전공 체험 통한 진로 설계 활동 꾸준한 인기

국립순천대학교(총장 이병운)는 지난 18일부터 지역 내 중·고교생의 진로 설계를 돕는 전공 체험 프로그램 ‘SCNU 오픈캠퍼스’를 본격적으로 시작했다고 밝혔다.

‘SCNU 오픈캠퍼스’는 학생들이 개설된 전공을 직접 체험해 보며 자기 주도적으로 진로를 탐색할 수 있도록 구성된 프로그램으로, 운영 7년째를 맞은 국립순천대 대표 진로 교육 활동이다. 올해 1회차 주인공은 강진고등학교로, 1학년 학생 117명이 사전 신청을 통해 희망 전공을 선택한 뒤 순천대 캠퍼스에서 다양한 체험 활동에 나섰다.

이번 오픈캠퍼스 행사에는 국립순천대의 3대 특화 분야인 △그린스마트팜스쿨(동물자원과학과, 의생명과학과) △애니메이션·문화콘텐츠스쿨(경영학과, 행정학과, 사학과, 문예창작학과, 패션디자인학과) △우주항공·첨단소재스쿨(컴퓨터공학과, 기계우주항공공학과)을 비롯해 △본부직속 전공(자유전공학부, 간호학과, 건축학부) △사범대학(국어교육과, 수학교육과, 환경교육과) 등 총 15개 전공이 참여했다.

SCNU 오픈캠퍼스는 각 전공 교수·조교가 자체 기획한 심화 체험 및 실습 프로그램뿐 아니라 ‘대학 강의실·실험실 탐방’과 ‘전공 재학생과의 만남’ 등 생생한 활동을 통해 대학 생활과 전공·진로에 대해 평소 궁금했던 점을 상세히 탐색할 수 있어 학생들로부터 호응이 높다. 전라남도교육청의 지원으로 운영되는 ‘SCNU 오픈캠퍼스’는 지난 3월 말 접수 시작 후 일주일 만에 모든 일정이 마감될 만큼 전남지역 중·고교의 높은 관심을 받고 있다. 올해는 4월부터 7월까지 총 12개교를 대상으로 확대 운영될 예정이다.

국립순천대 강희순 입학처장은 “오픈캠퍼스는 지역 학생들이 대학 구성원과의 만남을 통해 전공에 대한 구체적인 정보를 얻고, 자기 주도적으로 진로를 설계할 수 있도록 돕는 데 큰 의미가 있다”라며, “글로컬대학으로서 앞으로도 지역인재 양성을 위해 대학의 인적·물적 교육 자원을 더욱 폭넓게 개방해 나가겠다.”라고 밝혔다.

SCNU Launches 7th Year of ‘Open Campus’ Program for Local Middle and High School Students

Sunchon National University (President Lee Byung-woon) has officially launched its 2024 “SCNU Open Campus,” a hands-on academic experience program designed to help local middle and high school students explore university majors and plan their future careers. Now in its seventh year, the program began on April 18 with 117 first-year students from Gangjin High School visiting the campus to participate in major-specific activities. Students were able to choose their desired academic field in advance and engage directly in various experiential sessions.

A total of 15 departments participated in this year’s first session, including SCNU’s three strategic clusters -Green Smart Farm School, Animation & Cultural Content School, and Aerospace & Advanced Materials School- as well as general and education majors. The program included major-specific workshops led by faculty and teaching assistants, lab and lecture hall tours, and discussions with current students. Operated with the support of the Jeonnam Office of Education, the Open Campus program is highly popular, with all available slots fully booked within a week of registration. SCNU plans to host 12 schools between April and July this year. According to Director of Admissions Kang Hee-soon, “Open Campus plays a vital role in helping students gain concrete insights into university life and academic fields, while promoting community engagement through open access to university resources.”
