스마트농업전공 재직자 석사과정생 첨단 ICT 견학 지원

국립순천대학교(총장 이병운) 지능형 스마트농업 Grand ICT 연구센터(센터장 여현, 이하 Grand ICT 연구센터)는 ‘변화를 기회로, 미래를 선도하는 AI·디지털 혁신인재’를 주제로 하는 ‘ITRC 인재양성대전 2025’에 참가하여 Grand ICT 연구센터가 개발한 스마트농업 분야 연구성과를 전시하고, 본교 스마트농업전공 재직자 석사과정생의 역량 향상을 위해 인재양성대전 견학을 진행했다.

과학기술정보통신부가 주최하고, 정보통신기획평가원(IITP)과 대학정보통신연구센터협의회(ITRC)가 공동 주관한 ‘ITRC 인재양성대전 2025’는 지난 4월 24일부터 3일간 서울 삼성동 코엑스(COEX)에서 개최되었다. ‘월드 IT쇼 2025(WIS2025)’와 함께 진행된 이번 행사에는 전국 38개 대학, 80여 개 연구센터가 참여해 그간의 연구개발 성과를 소개했다.

Grand ICT 연구센터는 이번 행사에 ▲스마트팜 작물생육측정 프로그램, ▲노지 영상 수집 및 작업용 무인멀티콥터, ▲VR 기반 스마트농업 교육장비 등 스마트농업 분야의 주요 연구성과 3건을 전시해 주목을 받았다.

또한, 본교 스마트농업전공에서 수학 중인 재직자 석사과정 학생들의 ICT 발전 및 신기술 동향에 대한 이해를 높이고, 실무 역량 강화를 위해 재직자 석사과정생의 행사 참관 및 견학을 지원하였다.

국립순천대학교 Grand ICT 연구센터는 2020년부터 호남권역 스마트농업 인재 양성을 위해 공학, 농학, 이학, 경제학 등 4개 전공이 융합된 다학제 스마트농업전공 석사과정(재직자 전형)을 운영하고 있다. 매년 산업체 재직자 30여 명을 선발해 등록금의 최대 90%를 장학금으로 지원하고, 지금까지 총 60여 명의 스마트농업 전문 인재를 배출하였으며, 스마트농업 혁신을 선도하는 융합형 이매지니어 육성을 위해 노력하고 있다.

Grand ICT 연구센터장 여현 교수는 “정부의 지속적인 사업 지원과 참여교수 및 연구원들의 헌신에 깊이 감사드린다”며, “앞으로도 혁신적이고 현장 중심적인 연구개발을 통해 스마트농업 분야의 우수한 성과를 창출하고, 지역산업체 인력 고도화를 위한 ICT 융합 지역인재 양성에 최선을 다 하겠다”고 밝혔다.

- Fostering AI and Digital Innovation Talent to Lead Future Transformation

Sunchon National University (President Lee Byung-woon) announced that its Grand ICT Research Center for Intelligent Smart Agriculture (Director: Prof. Yeo Hyun, hereafter “Grand ICT Research Center”) participated in the ITRC Human Resources Development Expo 2025, under the theme “Turning Change into Opportunity: Nurturing Future-Leading AI and Digital Innovation Talent.”

At the event, the center showcased its recent research outcomes in the field of smart agriculture and organized an educational visit for students enrolled in the Smart Agriculture master's program for working professionals to enhance their practical ICT knowledge and competencies.

Hosted by the Ministry of Science and ICT and jointly organized by the Institute for Information & Communications Technology Planning & Evaluation (IITP) and the ITRC Council, the three-day expo took place at COEX in Samseong-dong, Seoul, from April 24. Held alongside World IT Show 2025 (WIS 2025), the event brought together 80 research centers from 38 universities across Korea, each presenting their latest R&D achievements.

The Grand ICT Research Center drew attention with three major smart agriculture research outcomes: A crop growth measurement program for smart farms, An unmanned multicopter for field image collection and agricultural operations, A VR-based smart agriculture training system

In addition to the exhibition, students from the university’s Smart Agriculture major?who are currently pursuing their master's degrees while working?were invited to explore the event. The visit aimed to enhance their understanding of ICT advancements and emerging technologies, while strengthening their on-the-ground expertise.

Since 2020, the Grand ICT Research Center has been operating a multidisciplinary Smart Agriculture master’s program (for working professionals) to cultivate talent in the Honam region. The program combines expertise from engineering, agriculture, science, and economics. Each year, around 30 industry professionals are admitted, receiving up to 90% tuition coverage through scholarships. To date, the program has produced over 60 smart agriculture experts and continues to foster “convergent imagi-neers” who lead innovation in the field.

Professor Yeo Hyun, Director of the Grand ICT Research Center, stated, “I sincerely thank the government for its continued support and the dedicated efforts of participating faculty and researchers. Moving forward, we will strive to deliver innovative, field-centered R&D outcomes and actively foster regionally grounded ICT convergence talent for the advancement of smart agriculture.”
