- 최재웅 폴앤마크(Paul & Mark) 대표, 스피치·설득의 본질 탐구하며 전달력 UP… 학내 구성원·지역민 150명 참여

국립순천대학교(총장 이병운)는 최재웅 폴앤마크(Paul & Mark) 대표를 초청하여 ‘말로 잇는 우리-어떻게 전달할까?’를 주제로 ‘명사와 함께 하는 교양 산책’을 개최했다고 밝혔다.

이번 특강은 교육혁신본부 교양교육원 주관으로 지난 12월 9일 70주년기념관 2층 초석홀에서 열렸으며, 학내 구성원과 지역민 등 약 150명이 참석하여 열띤 참여와 호응 속에 진행되었다.

최재웅 대표는 먼저 “무엇을 전달하고 설득하고 싶은가?”를 화두로 던지며 청중의 몰입을 이끌었다. 전달력 있는 스피치를 위해서 가장 먼저 해야 할 것은‘컨셉을 잡는 것’이며, 그 중심에는 반드시‘나(myself)’가 있어야 한다는 점을 힘주어 전했다. 이어서 “발표는 지식을 정리하고 자신의 생각을 세상에 드러내는 과정 속에서 성취감과 자존감을 만들어내는 의미 있는 활동”이라고 정의하면서, ‘나’로부터 시작하는 컨셉이야말로 자기 인식, 방향성, 정체성의 기반이 되며, 듣는 이의 마음을 움직일 수 있음을 역설했다.

최대표는 강연 내내 청중이 함께 참여하도록 이끌며, 좌뇌와 우뇌의 구조적 특성을 점검해보도록 하면서 사고체계에 대한 이해를 도왔다. 특히 발표나 소통의 과정에서 논리·분석·언어 기능을 주관하는 좌뇌와 창의성·직관·감성을 주관하는 우뇌가 함께 활용될 때 더욱 매력적이고 전달력 있는 스피치가 될 수 있음을 제안하였다.

최재웅 강사는 “강사를 가르치는 강사”로 알려져 있으며, 교육기관 및 기업체 대상 코칭과 혁신적 콘텐츠를 제공하는 폴 앤 마크(Paul & Mark) 대표이다. 국내 100대 기업을 비롯한 다수의 기관과 대학 등에서 교육컨설팅과 강의 코칭 등을 수행해왔으며, UN 등 국제기구 및 국내외 기관과 협력해 에콰도르, 베트남, 몽골, 몰도바 등에서 교육 봉사와 저개발국가 교육 지원, 그리고 탈북자 대상 교육 활동을 펼치고 있다.

국립순천대학교 임경희 교양교육원장은 “이번 특강이 자신의 이야기를 전달하며 설득해야 하는 스피치의 시대를 살아가는 우리 모두에게 신선한 동기부여가 되었기를 바란다”며 “앞으로도 학내 구성원과 지역민들의 니즈를 반영한 고급하고 혁신적인 교양강연들을 새롭게 마련해나가도록 하겠다”라고 밝혔다.

SCNU Hosts Liberal Arts Talk “Starting with Myself: Building a Strong Concept” with Choi Jae-woong

Sunchon National University (SCNU) announced that it hosted a special liberal arts lecture titled “Connecting Through Words: How Do We Communicate?” as part of its “Liberal Arts Walk with Distinguished Figures” series, featuring Choi Jae-woong, CEO of Paul & Mark.

The lecture was organized by the General Education Center under the Office of Educational Innovation and was held on December 9 at the Choseok Hall of the university’s 70th Anniversary Building. Approximately 150 participants, including university members and local residents, attended and actively engaged in the session.

During the lecture, Choi posed the question, “What do you truly want to convey and persuade?” to draw the audience’s attention. He emphasized that the first step toward effective speech is establishing a clear concept, and that this concept must begin with “myself.” He explained that presentations are meaningful activities that organize knowledge and reveal one’s thoughts to the world, fostering both achievement and self-confidence, and that concepts rooted in self-awareness form the basis of direction and identity that can genuinely move listeners.

Choi encouraged active audience participation throughout the session, helping participants understand different thinking systems by examining the roles of the left and right brain. He suggested that speeches become more compelling and persuasive when logical, analytical, and linguistic functions are balanced with creativity, intuition, and emotional ex-pression.

Choi Jae-woong is widely known as a “trainer of trainers” and leads Paul & Mark, providing coaching and innovative content for educational institutions and corporations. He has worked with numerous organizations and universities, including major corporations, and has collaborated with international organizations such as the United Nations on educational outreach and support projects in countries including Ecuador, Vietnam, Mongolia, and Moldova, as well as programs for North Korean defectors.

Im Kyung-hee, Director of SCNU’s General Education Center, said that she hoped the lecture would serve as fresh motivation for everyone living in an era that demands persuasive communication, adding that the university will continue to offer high-quality and innovative liberal arts lectures that reflect the needs of both campus members and the local community.
