- 지역 문화예술 생태계의 주체로서 예비예술인 양성에 앞장선다

국립순천대학교(총장 이병운) 애니메이션·문화콘텐츠스쿨(학장 조래철)은 지난 8월 1일 목포미식문화갤러리 해관1897에서 개최된 ‘지역 문화예술 인재 발굴 및 육성을 위한 업무협약식’에서 (재)전남문화재단과 공식 협약을 체결했다고 밝혔다. 이번 협약은 전남 지역 내 예술대학들과 함께 청년 예술인의 창작 역량 강화와 진로탐색 지원, 그리고 문화예술 기반 공공 네트워크의 구축을 통해 지속가능한 지역 문화예술 생태계를 조성하겠다는 공동의 목표 아래 추진되었다.

협약에 따라 양 기관은 ▲예비 예술인을 위한 창작지원 프로그램 기획 ▲문화콘텐츠 분야의 진로 정보 제공 및 진학·취업 연계 상담 ▲지역 청년 예술인을 위한 설명회 운영 ▲공동 연구 및 행사 추진 등 실질적인 지원 사업을 단계적으로 추진할 계획이다. 특히 창작, 진로, 유통, 기획을 아우르는 융합형 교육을 통해 학생들이 현장에서 예술가로 성장할 수 있도록 지역사회와 연계한 기반을 강화하는 데 중점을 두고 있다.

이번 협약식은 형식적인 절차를 벗어나 청년 세대의 감성과 창의성을 반영한 연출 속에서 진행됐다. 이번 협약을 바탕으로 국립순천대 애니메이션·문화콘텐츠스쿨은 전남문화재단과 함께 오는 2학기 ‘지역 예술대학 설명회 <아티스트 가이드>’를 기획·운영할 예정이다. 해당 설명회는 지역 예술대학의 재학생들을 대상으로 하여 창작지원 제도, 문화예술분야 진로 정보, 멘토링 상담 등으로 구성된 진로탐색형 프로그램으로, 지역 예술인의 공공성과 자생력을 함께 길러내는 데 중점을 두고 있다.

조래철 애니메이션·문화콘텐츠스쿨 학장은 “지역 기반 예술교육은 단지 예술가 개인의 성장을 넘어, 공동체와 함께 호흡하는 창작자의 탄생을 의미한다”며 “이번 협약을 통해 국립순천대학교는 전남문화재단 및 지역사회와 함께 지역문화의 미래를 함께 그리는 든든한 동반자로 자리매김할 것”이라고 밝혔다.

한편, 국립순천대 애니메이션·문화콘텐츠스쿨은 앞으로도 공공기관과의 협업을 지속적으로 확장하고, 예비 예술인이 지역 안팎에서 주체적으로 창작과 활동을 이어갈 수 있는 실천 기반을 조성해 나갈 계획이다. 이번 협약은 그 첫걸음이자 지역 문화예술 생태계 속에서 대학이 담당해야 할 새로운 역할에 대한 진지한 모색의 출발점이기도 하다.

SCNU School of Animation and Cultural Content Signs MOU with Jeonnam Cultural Foundation

- Taking the lead in nurturing future artists as a key player in the regional culture and arts ecosystem

The School of Animation and Cultural Content at Sunchon National University (SCNU, Dean Cho Rae-cheol) announced that it signed an official memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Jeonnam Cultural Foundation on August 1 at the Mokpo Culinary Culture Gallery Haegwan 1897 during the “MOU Ceremony for Discovering and Nurturing Regional Culture and Arts Talent.” The agreement was pursued with the shared goal of creating a sustainable regional cultural and artistic ecosystem by strengthening the creative capacities of young artists, supporting career exploration, and building a public network for culture and the arts in Jeollanam-do in cooperation with local arts universities.

Under the agreement, the two institutions will gradually implement practical support programs, including: ▲ planning creative support programs for aspiring artists ▲ providing career information and offering academic/career counseling in the cultural content sector ▲ holding information sessions for local young artists ▲ conducting joint research and organizing collaborative events. The focus will be on reinforcing community-based foundations that enable students to grow into practicing artists through integrative education encompassing creation, career development, distribution, and project planning.

The signing ceremony was organized in a creative and youthful format that reflected the sensibilities and imagination of the younger generation, moving away from conventional formality. Based on this MOU, the SCNU School of Animation and Cultural Content and the Jeonnam Cultural Foundation will co-plan and host the “Regional Arts University Information Session ” during the second semester. Targeting students at local arts universities, the program will provide information on creative support systems, career pathways in culture and the arts, and mentoring consultations, with an emphasis on fostering both the public value and self-sustainability of regional artists.

Dean Cho Rae-cheol stated, “Regional arts education is not only about the personal growth of an individual artist but also about the emergence of creators who work in harmony with their communities. Through this agreement, SCNU will establish itself as a strong partner with the Jeonnam Cultural Foundation and the local community in envisioning the future of regional culture.”

Looking ahead, the SCNU School of Animation and Cultural Content plans to expand collaborations with public institutions and to build practical foundations enabling aspiring artists to continue creative activities both within and beyond the region. This agreement marks both a first step and the beginning of a serious exploration of the new roles universities should play within the regional culture and arts ecosystem.
