본 연구실은 식품 및 영양소의 섭취가 만성질환의 예방 및 치료에 미치는 영향에 대해 영양유전체학(Nutrigenomics) 및 영양단백체학(Nutriproteomics)의 관점으로 접근한다. 또한, 섭취하는 영양소에 따라 분자수준에서 변화하는 단백질 및 유전자의 발현을 조사하고, 바이오 마커(biomarker)의 변화를 확인하여 기능성 식품 및 천연물 의약품 개발을 위한 전임상 단계에서의 기초연구를 제공한다. 관심연구 분야로는 보건영양학적 접근을 통한 암 세포 사멸(apoptosis), 전이(cancer metastasis), 혈관신생(angiogenesis), 혈관누출(vascular leakage), 고지혈증(hyperlipidemia) 및 염증성 장질환(inflammatory bowel disease) 등의 조절이다.
