국립순천대학교(총장 이병운)는 캐나다 코너스톤컬리지와 학생 교류 및 교육협력을 위한 업무협약을 체결했다고 밝혔다. 지난 27일 열린 협약식에는 국립순천대 문승태 대외협력부총장, 강신원 국제교류교육본부장, 심춘보 SW중심대학사업단장, 정세훈 부단장을 비롯해, 코너스톤컬리지 Shigeo Haseyama 부총장, Sophie Ahn 매니저, 로얄에듀케이션 류지훈 이사 등 주요 관계자들이 참석해 상호 협력 의지를 확인했다. 이번 협약을 통해 양 기관은 ▲연구 자료·출판물·정보 교환 ▲공동 학술 및 연구 프로그램 개발 ▲GLOCAL30, RISE, SW중심대학사업 등 연계 프로그램 지원 ▲학생 및 직원 교류 ▲공동 커리큘럼 개발 등 다양한 분야에서 협력을 추진해 나갈 계획이다. 코너스톤컬리지는 1980년 설립된 캐나다의 대형 교육기관으로, 밴쿠버에 3개의 캠퍼스를 운영하고 있으며 어학연수, 해외 인턴십, IT 및 경영 분야 코업(Co-op) 프로그램 등 다양한 글로벌 교육 과정을 제공하고 있다. 국립순천대학교 SW중심대학사업단은 2023년 겨울과 2024년 여름 두 차례에 걸쳐 재학생 14명이 코너스톤컬리지에서 SW 해외연수 프로그램을 수료한 바 있으며, 앞으로도 해당 프로그램을 포함한 지속적인 교류를 이어갈 예정이다. 문승태 대외협력부총장은 “이번 협약은 학생들의 실질적인 해외 경험 확대와 대학의 글로벌 경쟁력 강화를 위한 기반이 될 것”이라며 “앞으로도 글로벌 역량을 갖춘 인재 양성과 지역대학의 국제화를 위한 협력체계를 지속적으로 구축해 나가겠다”라고 밝혔다.
Sunchon National University Signs MOU with Cornerstone College, Canada - Boosting student exchange and global academic cooperation
Sunchon National University (President Lee Byung-woon) signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Cornerstone College in Canada to strengthen student exchange and educational collaboration.
The signing ceremony, held on March 27, brought together representatives from both institutions, including Vice President Moon Seung-tae and Cornerstone Vice President Shigeo Haseyama.
The agreement outlines cooperation in joint academic and research programs, exchange of students and staff, curriculum development, and support for initiatives such as GLOCAL30, RISE, and the SW-Centered University project.
Cornerstone College, founded in 1980, operates three campuses in Vancouver and offers global education programs including language training, international internships, and co-op opportunities in IT and business.
Sunchon National University previously sent 14 students to Cornerstone through its SW overseas training program and plans to continue such exchange efforts.
Vice President Moon remarked, “This agreement lays the groundwork for more practical global experiences for our students and strengthens our university’s international presence.”
