College of Pharmacy

The objective of the College of Pharmacy, specialized in development of new natural medicine, is to develop pharmacists who can serve to improve health and welfare with initiative according to SCNU’s ideals of education pursuing truth and creativity.
To that end, the College is providing clinical training through pharmacies in Suncheon, Yeosu, and Gwangyang, as well as hospitals including Seoul Nat'l Univ. Hospital, ASAN Medical Center, Seoul Police Hospital, Seoul National Univ. Bundang Hospital, Busan Haeundae Paik Hospital, Pusan National University Yangsan Hospital, Dongtan Hallym Univ. Seongsim Hospital, Bucheon Soon Chun Hyang University Hospital, and Chonnam National Univ. Hospital. In addition, the College has concluded an agreement with Suncheon-si in order to jointly establish a natural pharmaceutical material R&D center, receiving a donation of KRW 10 billion, and is conducting various clinical experiments and new medicine development projects with neighboring hospitals and pharmaceutical companies.

About the Department

Home page

Establishment of the College of Pharmacy is making new history for Sunchon National University, which has over 80 years’ history as a national university based in the Gwangyang Bay Area.

The College of Pharmacy, aiming at development of ‘glocal’ pharmacists, produced the first graduates in 2011 and aspires to be the best college of its kind with active support from all the members and also the alumni association.

Sunchon National University is providing clinical training through pharmacies in Suncheon, Yeosu, and Gwangyang, as well as hospitals including Seoul Nat'l Univ. Hospital, ASAN Medical Center, Seoul Police Hospital, Seoul National Univ. Bundang Hospital, Busan Haeundae Paik Hospital, Pusan National University Yangsan Hospital, Dongtan Hallym Univ. Seongsim Hospital, Bucheon Soon Chun Hyang University Hospital, and Chonnam National Univ. Hospital. In addition, the College has concluded an agreement with Suncheon-si in order to jointly establish a natural pharmaceutical material R&D center, receiving a donation of KRW 10 billion, and is conducting various clinical experiments and new medicine development projects with neighboring hospitals and pharmaceutical companies.

Given the fact that it is located in the Gwangyang Bay Area, the College, specialized in development of medicine for diseases caused by environmental factors, is in good position to utilize a plenty of natural resources distributed in the Jirisan Mountain area and the southern coast of Korea which can be used for developing new medicines.

The College will endeavor to develop global, professional pharmacists, equipped with extensive expertise, the ability of self-development, creativity as well as a strong sense of duty and ethics, who can meet the needs of future society and serve to contribute to public health and local communities.
