The College of Engineering, serving as an engine of growth for the Gwangyang Bay Area, is carrying our large-scale national projects worth over KRW 70 billion and is developing experts who have creative and "glocal" abilities to solve problems and to lead research activities in the Area through active academia-industry cooperation.
The 21st century is shifting from an information society to a ubiquitous society, driven by development of hardware such as a computer and semiconductor and of software. In the ubiquitous society, where we can have connection with any device or service, anytime and anywhere, development of IT technologies requires creative and competent u-IT experts. The Department of Info-communications Multimedia Engineering provides varied curricular aimed at development of creative and competent experts who can lead ubiquitous IT innovation. The curricular include telecommunication engineering, electronic circuit design, satellite communication, data communication, and sensor network, as well as data processing study including cryptosecurity, coding theory, and system programming. The Department offers education for developing u-IT contents as well, including programming language, operating system, and distributed programming. The curricula are designed systematically and include a variety of experiments and training programs so as to allow the students to acquire practical, on-the-job experience.
