About the Department
The major of High Polymer Engineering deals with technology of materials, which have been used in our lives since ancient times. High polymer engineering studies especially new materials, crucial to development of cutting-edge industries, including the following:
- High-tech machinery, including an automobile, ship, airplane, and so forth
- Information/electronic/photonics industries, including a semiconductor, LCD TV, pyroelectric/piezoelectric, optical communication, artificial sun, satellite, etc.
- Bio-engineering such as an artificial kidney, artificial skin, DNA/RNA, etc.
- Daily-use articles such as cosmetics, food, clothing, paper, rubber, resin, etc.
- Structure materials for construction, civil engineering, and environment
