The College of Humanities and Arts is developing experts equipped with a comprehensive perspective and problem-solving abilities needed for the culture industry, which is becoming more significant in the 21st-century information age. By integrating the humanities with various areas of arts, the College aims to develop holistic/cultural human resources who can contribute to advancement of the culture industry.
The Department of Chinese Language and Literature, established in 1989, has five Korean professors in charge of the Chinese language/literature/culture education and two exchange professors for Chinese conversation education from University of Science Technology Beijing and Hebei Normal University. A total of 699 undergraduates and 50 graduate students majored in this field of study.
The Department provides systematic curricular and phased training for the Chinese language, literature, and culture to develop experts in China and also a teacher education course to train Chinese teachers. In addition to the regular classes, including the learning of the Chinese literature/culture and language training provided by native speakers, the tutoring systems by the seniors, group activities, and exchange programs help to increase expertise in the study. Moreover, the Department sends language and culture trainees to University of Science Technology Beijing, Guizhou Normal University, Ningbo University, Hebei Normal University, Qinghai Normal University, National Taiwan University, and Tatung University and also operates 1-year exchange student programs.
