College of Life Science and Natural Resources
The College of Life Science and Natural Resources aims at developing professional human resources who can offer practical expertise in the bio-industry and advanced agriculture, and also to solve problems pertaining to these areas by studying sophistication of agricultural production, advanced agricultural technologies, and effective utilization of agricultural resources.
With regard to life science, the College provides education for modern biology, improved productivity for bio-resources, environmental preservation, and development of the bio-industry.
Starting as Agricultural Mechanical Engineering, the Department changed its name to Industrial Mechanical Engineering in 2004 so as to meet the changing needs of our society as more industries require expertise of the graduates and also reduced the entrance quota in an effort to improve quality of this education. This field of study involves fluid machinery (a pump, blower, compressor, etc.), construction machines (tractor, etc.), motor (internal combustion engine, etc.), machine tools, bio-machinery (farm work machines, farm products and food processing machines), energy-related machines (air conditioning, cooling/heating, and refrigeration systems), and other applications (design, construction, installation, and inspection of various plants).
