College of Life Science and Natural Resources
The College of Life Science and Natural Resources aims at developing professional human resources who can offer practical expertise in the bio-industry and advanced agriculture, and also to solve problems pertaining to these areas by studying sophistication of agricultural production, advanced agricultural technologies, and effective utilization of agricultural resources.
With regard to life science, the College provides education for modern biology, improved productivity for bio-resources, environmental preservation, and development of the bio-industry.
In the conventional sense, food may refer to rice, barley, wheat, beans, or corn but, more recently, any bio-energy, created by green plants by means of photosynthesis, is considered food. The Department of Bio-resources and Wellbeing studies not only grain crops but also special/medicinal/forage crops and any edible plants together with relevant products.
In the past, the food industry mainly focused on production as the primary industry but now is considered to be part of the high-tech and health industries, involving life and information science technologies.
The Department of Bio-resources and Wellbeing aims at developing professional human resources who can lead the future food and biotechnology industries.
